Job description

Our Mobile Lab Patient Technician plays an important role in on-site patient care at locations including private homes, commercial facilities, and long-term care facilities. This is an active and rewarding role that allows you to build relationships with patients and see the positive impact on their lives and healthcare outcomes.

Status:

Regular Part Time

Shifts:

Must have Monday-Friday availability. Shift hours range from 6am-5pm. 20-37.5 hours per week. Full-Time training lasts 8-12 weeks.

Additional Comments:

This position is for a dual Mobile Lab Patient Technician (primary) and Lab Patient Technician (secondary) role.

Vaccination Requirement:

Selected candidates must be fully vaccinated against Covid-19, including a booster shot.

Your Responsibilities Will Include:
  1. Organizing daily schedules for visits to facilities and private residences to collect specimens as per physicians’ requests, planning routes considering courier times, specimen integrity, and travel time.
  2. Performing phlebotomies, connecting/disconnecting holter monitors, and conducting ECG tracings.
  3. Collecting and delivering specimens to designated labs for testing.
  4. Accessioning, spinning, separating, and preparing specimens for transport to reference labs as required.
  5. Booking patient appointments, requesting necessary information from patients, explaining the specimen collection process, and ensuring patients follow test protocols prior to collection.
  6. Liaising with doctors, facility staff, and CCAC staff regarding patient issues, scheduling changes, specimen procedures, and other matters.
What You Will Bring to the Role:
  1. Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record and access to a vehicle.
  2. Satisfactory criminal reference check.
  3. Phlebotomy experience.
  4. Excellent communication skills to relate effectively with diverse populations.
  5. Problem-solving skills and the ability to think quickly.
  6. Ability to maintain strict patient privacy and confidentiality standards.
