Dual Mobile Lab Patient Technician & Lab Patient Technician

Our Mobile Lab Patient Technician plays an important role in on-site patient care at locations including private homes, commercial facilities, and long-term care facilities. This active and rewarding role allows you to build relationships with patients and see the impact of your work on their lives and healthcare outcomes.

Status: Regular Part Time

Shifts: Must have Monday-Friday availability. Shift hours range from 6am-5pm. 20-37.5 hours per week. Full-Time training lasts 8-12 weeks.

Additional comments: This position is for a dual role as Mobile Lab Patient Technician (primary) and Lab Patient Technician (secondary).

Selected candidates are required to be fully vaccinated against Covid-19, including a booster shot.

Responsibilities
  • Organize daily schedules for visits to facilities and private residences to collect specimens as per physicians’ requests, planning routes to optimize courier times, specimen integrity, and travel time.
  • Perform phlebotomies, connect/disconnect Holter monitors, and perform ECG tracings.
  • Collect and deliver specimens to designated labs for testing.
  • Accession, spin, separate, and prepare specimens for transport to reference labs as required.
  • Book patient appointments, request necessary information, explain specimen collection procedures, and ensure patients follow test protocols prior to collection.
  • Liaise with doctors, facility staff, and CCAC staff regarding patient issues, scheduling changes, and specimen procedures.
Qualifications
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record and access to a vehicle.
  • Satisfactory criminal reference check.
  • Phlebotomy experience.
  • Excellent communication skills to relate effectively with diverse individuals.
  • Problem-solving skills and the ability to think quickly.
  • Ability to maintain strict patient privacy and confidentiality standards.
