Job summary

Autism Services is seeking a skilled drywall installer to work on-site in Canada. The role involves reading blueprints, applying compound, preparing surfaces, and installing drywall components including corner beads, acoustic tiles, and suspended ceilings.

The position requires precise workmanship, ability to follow specifications, and experience with joint compound and drywall finishing techniques. Diverse projects support inclusive workplaces for newcomers and Indigenous workers.

Responsibilities

• Read blueprints, drawings and specifications to determine work requirements
• Apply successive coats of compound and sand seams and joints
• Clean and prepare surfaces
• Cut and install metal corner beads to protect exterior corners
• Fill joints, nail indentations, holes and cracks with joint compound using trowel and broad knife
• Finish corners and angles and create decorative designs in finish coat, if required
• Measure, cut, fit and install drywall sheets
• Mix plaster ingredients to desired consistency
• Smooth out excess compound and allow coat to dry
• Spray acoustic or texture materials over walls and ceilings
• Tape over joints using taping machine and embed tape in compound
• Install acoustic tile, hangers for suspended ceilings and metal studs for composition wallboard or lath
