Your goal is to mentor new drivers and to inspire long-term drivers to operate vehicles safely and confidently, from smaller body jobs to Super B units.

What We're Looking for :

This position is not for everyone. We are not just hiring a experienced Class 1 driver; you need to be committed to patience and thorough training—no shortcuts or policy violations. This is a physical job, so you must be able to lift/move up to 70 pounds and comply with our Drug & Alcohol program and client site requirements.

JOB SUMMARY

The Driver Trainer, in collaboration with the Director of Operations, is responsible for evaluating new hire candidates and conducting field orientation training for new AFD drivers. The role includes re-training and certifying current drivers, as well as working with M.E.L.T Program graduates to develop driver readiness. The driver trainer will also participate in safety meetings, incident follow-ups, and customer site inspections.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Train new candidates on loading, unloading, and handling liquid bulk equipment
  • Develop and improve training and assessment programs
  • Manage simulator fleet maintenance and updates
  • Ensure consistent training processes in collaboration with operations
  • Lead, coach, and motivate trainees and drivers
  • Adhere to corporate policies and promote compliance
  • Support recruitment efforts with industry knowledge and candidate engagement
  • Conduct classroom and behind-the-wheel training, including re-training
  • Perform driver evaluations and pre-employment check rides
  • Instruct on simulator programming and review safety hazard assessments
  • Visit customer sites and update site maps to identify hazards
  • Adjust training based on location-specific challenges
  • Participate in trade shows and operate mobile simulator equipment
  • Provide emergency response training and support
