GFL Environmental Inc. in Moose Creek, ON is seeking a full-time Driver – Tractor to support the Moose Creek compost facility. The role focuses on operating heavy equipment, daily inspections, and maintaining safe operations to ensure optimal plant performance.

Work with the Maintenance Supervisor and/or Operations Manager; wear PPE, follow safety procedures, and report incidents. This position requires a valid Canadian work authorization and adherence to company policies.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) desired, but not required.
  • Wear all mandatory personal protective equipment as assigned and follow safety procedures.
  • Report all accidents, incidents, near misses and hazards to supervision immediately.

Responsibilities

  • Perform inspection and maintenance checks of equipment daily.
  • Grease/lubricate equipment, check and add fluids daily.
  • Operator will steer, guide and/or drive the listed equipment at the assigned site.
  • Substitute for another operator when needed.
  • Clean debris from tracks of heavy equipment daily or as needed.
  • Use two-way radio to communicate with coworkers on activities and priorities.
  • Comply with laws, regulations, and company policies.
  • Maintain appearance of grounds and facility.
  • Attend safety and branch meetings.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Position: Driver – Tractor Workplace: 17125 Lafleche Road, Moose Creek, ON K0C 1W0 Permanent position Welcome to Matrec, a division of GFL! We are a dynamic company focused on growth and security. GFL is responsible for the collection and processing of waste, recycling, and organic materials. We cover North America with more than 20 000 employees. We are looking for an energetic and motivated full-time Heavy Equipment technician to support our growing business.

Summary To work in cooperation with the Maintenance Supervisor and/or Operations Manager aiding in the repairs/maintenance of all aspects of the operating system at the Moose Creek compost facility to ensure optimal Plant performance.

Job Duties
  • Perform inspection and maintenance checks of equipment daily.
  • Grease/lubricate equipment, check and add fluids to equipment daily
  • Operator will steer, guide and or drive the above listed equipment at the assigned site, if the equipment is used at the particular site(s) using steering wheel, shifters, levers, buttons and pedals.
  • Operator will substitute for another operator if someone is absent from the work crew or as needed/required.
  • Operator will clean trash from tracks of heavy equipment by pulling and or cutting material away from tracks and gear mechanisms at least once daily or more if needed.
  • Operator will use a two-way radio to communicate with co-workers in the field and or office regarding work activities, Requirements: and priorities for the work day.
  • Conform in all respects with applicable federal, state/provincial and local laws, regulations, ordinances and other orders and to all company policies, procedures and directives from supervisors.
  • Maintain appearance of the grounds and facility.
  • Attend safety and branch meetings.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Requirements

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities.

Wear all mandatory personal protective equipment as assigned. Follow all safety procedures as outlined by the Occupational Health and Safety Act, Applicable Industrial Regulations, Federal, Provincial, Municipal regulations Health and Safety policies and procedures. Report all accident, incidents, near misses and hazards to supervision immediately.
