Job summary

City of Kingston is seeking a Vehicle Operator in the Solid Waste Division to help keep Kingston clean and sustainable by operating recycling, organics, and garbage collection fleets. You will drive and operate waste collection vehicles, load and unload materials, and perform routine maintenance.

You will follow highway and safety regulations and report any issues to the Supervisor while contributing to a cooperative, safety-minded team environment.

Responsibilities

• Drive and operate recycling, organic and garbage vehicles
• Collect, load and unload leaf, brush, garbage, organics and recyclables
• Check, lubricate, refuel and clean equipment and report malfunctions
• Work in compliance with the Highway Traffic Act and the Occupational Health & Safety Act and Regulations
• Report any deficiencies, unsafe situations or conditions to the Supervisor
• Collaborate with team to perform varied tasks within the Solid Waste Division
