Job summary

Dal-Catering, operated by Aramark, is seeking two energetic Catering Drivers / Event Stewards to join our catering team on the Dalhousie University campus in Halifax. This hands-on role is ideal for someone who enjoys being active, working as part of a team, and helping deliver exceptional hospitality experiences.

You will drive to deliver food and supplies, set up events, liaise with chefs and staff, and ensure safe lifting and health & safety standards.

Qualifications

• Valid Class 5 Driver's License with a clean abstract.
• Ability to operate catering delivery vehicles safely.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs repeatedly.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Reliable and punctual with professional communication.

Responsibilities

• Safely drive catering vehicles to deliver food, beverages, equipment, and supplies across campus.
• Load, unload, and organize catering vans efficiently and safely.
• Complete daily deliveries on time and in excellent condition.
• Set up events including tables, linens, buffet equipment, beverages, décor, and service stations.
• Assist with the preparation and organization of catering equipment.
• Tear down events and return items to the department.
• Maintain cleanliness of catering vehicles, storage areas, and event equipment.
• Provide friendly, professional customer service representing Dal-Catering and Aramark.
• Work with chefs, supervisors, servers, bartenders, and event staff for seamless execution.
• Follow health & safety, food safety, and lifting procedures.
• Complete delivery logs and vehicle inspections as needed.
• Assist with general operations during quieter periods.

Dal-Catering, operated by Aramark, is looking for two energetic, dependable, and customer-focused Catering Drivers / Event Stewards to join our growing catering team on the Dalhousie University campus in Halifax.

This is a hands‑on position ideal for someone who enjoys being active, working as part of a team, and helping deliver exceptional hospitality experiences. Every day brings something different from delivering catering across campus to setting up elegant receptions, corporate meetings, conferences, and special events.

Job Responsibilities

As a Catering Driver / Event Steward, your responsibilities will include:

• Safely driving catering vehicles to deliver food, beverages, equipment, and supplies across campus and surrounding locations.
• Loading, unloading, packing, and organizing catering vans efficiently and safely.
• Completing daily deliveries while ensuring all orders arrive on time and in excellent condition.
• Setting up catering events, including tables, linens, buffet equipment, beverages, décor, and service stations.
• Assisting with the preparation and organization of catering equipment before events.
• Tearing down events, collecting equipment, and returning items to the catering department.
• Maintaining cleanliness and organization of catering vehicles, storage areas, and event equipment.
• Providing friendly, professional customer service while representing Dal-Catering and Aramark.
• Working closely with catering chefs, supervisors, servers, bartenders, and event staff to ensure seamless event execution.
• Following all workplace health & safety, food safety, and safe lifting procedures.
• Completing delivery logs, vehicle inspections, and other required documentation as needed.
• Assisting with general catering operations during quieter periods, including dishware organization, inventory movement, and equipment preparation.

Qualifications

• Valid Class 5 Driver's License with a clean Driver's Abstract.
• Ability to safely operate catering delivery vehicles.
• Ability to lift, carry, and move up to 50 lbs repeatedly throughout the day.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Excellent reliability and punctuality.
• Comfortable working independently as well as within a fast-paced team environment.
• Professional communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule based on catering business needs, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and occasional holidays.

This role may have physical demands including, but not limited to, lifting, bending, pushing, pulling and/or extended walking and standing. This role may also require uniforms and/or usage of Personal Protective equipment (PPE).
