Job description

In Class 2 MELT training, you will receive coaching to complete the written and driving tests necessary to obtain your Class 2 drivers license and Q (Air brakes) license. This training will be conducted over a 3-week period in Banff. Afterward, you will proceed to on-site operational training before driving with passengers.

As a Driver Guide, you will help make the Columbia Icefield Adventure and Columbia Icefield Skywalk experiences memorable, entertaining, and informative for guests from around the world. Your responsibilities include safely operating various coach buses and Ice Explorer vehicles, delivering high-quality interpretive tour content professionally and interactively, and meeting Pursuit's service standards.

What will your compensation be?
The starting salary for this position is $20.50.

What will you do in this job?

  • Provide guests with high-quality interpretive tours around the Columbia Icefield and Athabasca Glacier.
  • Coordinate guest and tour group movements on/off Coaches and Ice Explorers.
  • Conduct guest surveys.
  • Perform mechanical pre-trip and post-trip checks on assigned Coach or Ice Explorer.
  • Ensure the safe operation, care, and maintenance of your vehicle, including interior and exterior cleaning, window cleaning, and damage prevention.
  • Safely load and unload passengers, ensuring they are seated and aware of safety protocols.
  • Participate in cleaning schedules for transfer areas, including washrooms and garbage disposal.
  • Support colleagues with interpretive information, managing tours, and vehicle operations.
  • Communicate observations and feedback to management promptly.
  • Uphold environmental stewardship standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Commitment to safe, reliable, and courteous driving, including responsible operation during licensing and daily work.
  • Guest service orientation and a passion for delivering memorable experiences.
  • Ability to think quickly and solve problems positively.
  • Second language skills are an asset.
  • Fluent English communication skills, including radio communication.
  • Physical ability to perform manual tasks (bending, stooping, stretching).
  • Enjoy working outdoors in mountain weather conditions.
  • Positive attitude, humor, friendliness, maturity, and energy.
  • Willingness to complete interpretive training provided upon employment.
