The Onyx Warehouse Driver plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our business. This position involves close collaboration with the Purchasers and Construction team to ensure the road crew has the necessary resources to complete their work. Key tasks include material delivery and pickup, site clean-offs, and tool delivery.

Responsibilities:

  • Follow the run list provided by the Purchaser and Construction Team, starting at the listed time.
  • Arrive at the warehouse before the shift starts, verify pre-loaded commodities, and perform a pre-trip vehicle inspection, reporting any issues.
  • Drive to specified locations, contact site personnel, deliver materials, clean off sites, and deliver tools. Document tasks with photos for the End of Day Report.
  • Collect materials and tools from sites for return to the warehouse, documenting these in the driver’s report.
  • After completing the run list, coordinate with Purchasing for any additional pickups, prepare for next runs, and handle order staging and material collection.
  • Stagger coffee breaks and lunches to ensure shop coverage during business hours.
  • Perform additional runs as needed, including staging materials for upcoming projects.
  • Assist with stock transfers, confirm inventory on job boxes, ensure tool functionality, and prepare for next day deliveries.
  • Ensure the quality of materials loaded into delivery vehicles and begin loading for the next day.
  • Provide daily hours and task reports to Purchasing and Construction.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Maintain cleanliness of delivery vehicles, ensuring no leftover materials inside.
  • Dispose of interior scrap and garbage appropriately.
  • Sweep the shop floor and maintain cleanliness in the shop and cage areas.
  • Return gas and diesel receipts for fleet trucks.
  • Maintain flexible start and end times to support business needs as directed by leadership.

Qualifications:

  • Acceptable driver’s abstract and a copy of the class G driver’s license (front and back)
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is mandatory on all Onyx projects. CSA-approved footwear is provided by the driver and PPE must be worn upon completion of training.
  • Professionalism is essential as drivers represent Onyx to customers and vendors and are visible in an Onyx vehicle
