Job summary

LER TechForce is seeking a Mechanical Automotive Application Engineer to work onsite in Windsor, ON, supporting driveline system interfaces and design reviews. The role focuses on coordinating between the Chief Engineering team and Product Release Center, ensuring robust development through DFMEA/DRBFM processes and timely design changes.

Responsibilities include leading design reviews, interfacing with CAD, suppliers, and manufacturing, and driving cost reductions while maintaining quality.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
  • 1-3 years of automotive Mechanical Engineer experience with driveline, front wheel drive, gears, bearings, shafts, or powertrain.
  • CAD experience to review drawings.
  • Willingness to travel to Mexico (10%).
  • Must be able to work on-site 5 days per week, with occasional travel to Michigan (MI).

Responsibilities

  • Lead interface between the Chief Engineering team and the Product Release Center, overseeing system interactions.
  • Manage Driveline System and interfaces between components and subsystems.
  • Schedule and organize design reviews as required.
  • Coordinate with Virtual Analysis / CAE team to complete Virtual DVP / Scorecard before prototype orders.
  • Lead DFMEA / DRBFM reviews to ensure robust design controls and DVP actions.
  • Review and approve change notices, ensuring up-to-date checklists and ES alignments.
  • Drive Technical Cost Reductions (TCRs) and Value Optimization with cross-functional teams.
  • Represent CE in lessons learned and propagate updates to EBPs.
  • Coordinate DRBTR reviews and issue GIMs for problem resolution.

Mechanical Automotive Application Engineer

What you will be doing:

As a Mechanical Automotive Application Engineer you will lead interface between the Chief Engineering team and the Product Release Center, primarily responsible for managing system interactions and interfaces between components and subsystems of the Driveline System. Design Systems / Applications Engineer reports to the Chief Engineer for multiple programs.

Responsibilities include:
  • Driveline System hardware system responsible (integration and system balancing of all EDM gearbox components)
  • Interfacing with individual Design Release Engineers and COEs, Manufacturing, Suppliers, and Development Validation Center.
  • Schedules system design reviews as required
  • Organize reviews with Virtual Analysis / CAE team and ensures Virtual DVP / Scorecard is completed prior to any prototype hardware orders
  • Manage Driveline System and Interface DFMEA / DRBFM (team) reviews to ensure complete transparency and development of cohesive Design Controls leading to Robust DVP Actions
  • Review and approve all change notices ensuring checklists, LL, and Es are updated and aligned.
  • Leads Technical Cost Reductions (TCRs) / Value Optimization (VO) effort and alignment working closely with PRC, DVC and VO teams.
  • Represents CE in managing the "lessons learned" document for the program and ensure that TS (Technical Specialist) receive those updates on a timely manner to update the EBPs accordingly
  • Reviews driveline system and applicable component "Validation Completion" status with DVC team periodically & provides update to CE.
  • Coordinates DRBTR review and keeper of "follow up items" and decision maker on issuing GIMS for buds of problems.
What you'll need to be successful:
Basic:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related Engineering Degree. MS preferred.
  • 1-3 years of previous experience as an Automotive Mechanical Engineer with driveline, front wheel drive, gears, bearings, shafts, or powertrain experience.
  • CAD experience to review drawings.
  • Must be able to travel to Mexico (10%).
  • Must be able to work on-site 5 days per week, with the ability to work in MI 2 times per month
