Hourly wages range from $39.00 to $44.50 per hour, with overtime, paid travel, and paid training. The role offers year-round work, benefits, and opportunities to advance toward lead driller roles in a dynamic mining environment.

Qualifications

• Driller or driller’s helper with sonic/geotechnical drilling experience.
• Ability to pass pre-access, post-incident, and annual drug and alcohol screening.
• Class 5 or better drivers license with acceptable driving record.
• Willingness to work outdoors long hours in various conditions and travel for work.

Responsibilities

• Provides semi-skilled labour across drilling operations in a safe and efficient manner.
• Ensures correct alignment, collar location, depth, and drill setup for site operations.
• May train new drillers in a safe environment and supervise basic tasks.
• Performs surveys according to client requirements.

Hourly Wage: $39.00-$44.50/hr

This posting is for our various sites across northern Alberta including CNRL, Suncor, Syncrude, Kearl, and Fission.

Job Responsibilities

Provides semi-skilled labour intensive assistance across a wide spectrum of drilling operations in an efficient and safe manner. Responsible for general condition and obtaining optimum life out of all site equipment and tools, location of the collar of the hole, ensuring correct alignment with front and back sites, offsets, depth and setting of the drill at the correct angle. May be responsible for the training of new drillers in a safe environment. Performs surveys according to client.

• Geotechnical drillers looking to move to train on sonic drills
• Sonic drillers in training looking to progress to lead driller

Position requirements

• Driller or driller’s helper experience related to sonic or geotechnical drilling
• Ability to work in mining and oil & gas environments including the ability to pass pre-access, post incident, and annual drug and alcohol screening
• Class 5 or better drivers license with reasonable drivers abstract (commercial DL is an asset)
• Willingness to work with a wide variety of equipment
• Willingness to work long hours outdoors in all conditions
• Willingness to work hard, and travel for work
• Willingness to perform both shop based and field based work
• Willing to learn new advanced geotechnical testing techniques involving sophisticated electronic testing equipment
• Positive attitude in the work place
