What is the project?

The Pickering Nuclear Generating Station refurbishment program involves designing and building a new deep‑water intake in Lake Ontario to improve the plant's cooling system. This will involve:

  • 1.5 km long tunnel, built by a pressurized TBM (10.15 m diameter slurry TBM);
  • Two vertical shafts (onshore and offshore);
  • An offshore modular intake structure, resting on the lakebed.

The project is distinguished by its proximity to an active nuclear site, requiring rigorous standards of safety, planning and coordination.

What you will do:

The Draftsman/Draftswoman will be responsible for preparing technical drawings and plans used in construction projects, ensuring accuracy, compliance with regulations, and alignment with project specifications.

Concretely, your tasks will be:
  • Collaborate with engineers, and project managers to understand project requirements
  • Create drawings from scratch, based on engineering inputs, site conditions, and project specifications
  • Draw site installations with logistics and liftings operations
  • Prepare drawings for utilities, traffic, dewatering drawings
  • Temporary works drawings with formwork
  • Ensure drawings are accurate and correspond to project requirements
  • Revise drawings based on feedback and changes in project scope
  • Use CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit) to produce high‑quality plans
  • Civil works, TBM and SEM tunnelling sequences and interfaces
  • Prepare drawings/inputs for civil works including the sequence of casting and reinforcement design basis
  • Excavation sequence with secant piles, soldier piles, tension piles, rock anchors, struts and walers
  • Provide support for permit requests
  • Diploma or degree in Drafting, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or related field.
  • 7 years of experience in the civil construction industry on large infrastructure projects
  • 7 years of experience with AutoCAD and Revit
  • Strong ability to produce detailed technical drawings entirely from scratch
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
  • Rigor, ability to learn constantly
  • Focused on resolving problems and providing recommendations
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

  • The construction of the subway line south in Toronto, involving a six‑kilometer tunnel and associated excavation work. The project includes the design, construction, and handover of all tunnels (twin tubes of 6 km each), 7 stations (turnkey for: 1 at‑grade station and 6 underground stations) and civil engineering works.
  • Extension of the Confederation Line in Ottawa, one of the components of Phase 2 of the city's O‑Train system, which includes the design, construction, and financing of 27.5 km of light rail infrastructure. The work also includes 4 km of cut‑and‑cover tunnels, 20 engineering structures, 16 stations and a light maintenance facility.
  • The Pickering Nuclear Generating Station refurbishment program includes the design and construction of a new deep water intake in Lake Ontario to improve the plant's cooling system.
