Job summary

Abf Inc. is seeking a Detailer/Draftsman in Châteauguay, QC, reporting to the Director of Technical Services.

The role involves producing rebar layout drawings, reviewing bid and construction drawings for modifications, and delivering precise CAD outputs according to rebar standards. You will work with project managers to create technical drawings, prepare steel fabrication purchase orders, and provide expertise for fabrication and installation while adhering to established timelines and quality

Qualifications

• DEP in architectural drafting or equivalent.
• 2–5 years of relevant experience.
• Proficient in AutoCAD and MS Office.
• Strong ability to read, interpret and analyze technical drawings.
• Experience in the rebar industry is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Produce rebar layout drawings in accordance with plans and specifications.

Job description

Under the supervision of the Director of Technical Services, the Detailer/Draftsman works closely with project managers to carry out their projects.

More specifically, the Detailer/Draftsman will be responsible for:

• Produce rebar layout drawings in accordance with plans and specifications;
• Receive, analyze, and approve bid and construction drawings, verifying any modifications made from the start of projects;
• Work closely with the project manager to produce technical drawings using computer-aided design (CAD) software, while ensuring the accuracy of the information and compliance with standards and principles related to rebar;
• Prepare purchase orders for steel fabrication at the plant, taking into account the required diameters, lengths, and bends;
• Provide the technical expertise necessary for the fabrication and installation of rebar;
• Master work processes, demonstrate adaptability, and ensure effective project management in accordance with established timelines;
• Perform any other related tasks associated with the position.

Work location: Châteauguay, QC

• DEP in architectural drafting or any other program deemed equivalent.

• Have 2 to 5 years of relevant experience in a similar role;
• Be proficient in AutoCAD and demonstrate a good knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite;
• Demonstrate a strong ability to read, interpret, and analyze technical drawings;
• Have experience in the rebar industry (considered an asset).
