Job description

Your Opportunity:

The Central Alberta Cancer Centre is looking for an experienced and highly motivated Dosimetrist II to join our highly efficient and effective multidisciplinary team here in Red Deer. The Dosimetrist II will join a strong group of dosimetrists that are committed to excellence and improved outcomes for our patients. We currently operate two Varian TrueBeams as well as a Phillips Big Bore CT-Simulator. We treat the four main tumor groups and have a strong and expanding SBRT program that includes but is not limited to lung, prostate and bone. The Dosimetrist II will be responsible for planning 3D conformal, Field in Field, electron, and inverse plans including IMRT, VMAT and SBRT. We offer the opportunity to work in a hybrid setting which would involve flexing your time between the department and home.

Description:

As a Dosimetrist IIA, you will provide subject matter expertise of the overall characteristics and clinical relevance of Radiation Oncology treatment, machines/equipment and procedures commonly used in Radiation Therapy and Brachytherapy. Your experience and technical knowledge will be instrumental in developing the delivery plan for radiation treatments, selecting radiation energy and other treatment parameters for the approval of the Radiation Oncologist. You will generate radiation dose calculation and distribution in collaboration with the medical physicist and Radiation Oncologist. You will also be responsible for training and mentoring new staff, rotational staff, residents, and Radiation Therapy students.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree of Science in Radiation Therapy or completion of Medical Radiation Therapy diploma and Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT) certification, or equivalent. Six (6) months of experience in a radiation therapy department.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Completion of the Canadian Dosimetry Certificate (CDC) or Certified Medical Dosimetrist (CMD) designation is required. Candidates with equivalent experience and designation in progress may be considered. Minimum one year in treatment planning/Dosimetry with current working expertise in 3D conformal and VMAT planning. Must be physically able to perform all duties of the job required along with sitting, standing, bending, walking and lifting as needed.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with complex SBRT planning would be an asset. Eclipse training. Connect Care training.
