Weekend Dorm Parent and Dormitory Activities Facilitator

We are currently hiring for a dorm parent and dorm weekend activity facilitator to create and facilitate campus activities, recreational activities, and events that support our dormitory students after school and on weekends.
Schedule Overview
- Weekend Dorm and Activity Shifts:
- Friday 3:00pm-12:30pm
- Saturday 12:00pm-7:00pm
- Sunday 10:30am-5:00pm
- Office Hours (Activity Planning):
- Monday and Thursday 9:00am – 5:00pm (Thursday shift varies due to needs of school)
- Start Date: August 15th, 2025
- Flexibility is required based on activity schedules and/or needs of the school.
Compensation and Benefits
- $24.00-$26.00 per hour plus 4% in lieu (Dependent on experience and obtaining Class 4 drivers licence).
- Eligibility for enrolment in our Health and Dental benefits after 3-month probationary period along with participation in our meal taxable benefit.
- Potential to participate in other areas such as leading an after-school activity, chaperoning a school trip, coaching, and driving for sports teams.
- Additional hours may be available with the Transportation team.
Dorm Parent Position Summary
- Providing care that ensures each student receives individual contact weekly to support emotional and academic stability, celebrate birthdays and special events, and make the dorm feel like a home.
- Building rapport with residents to facilitate open communication regarding questions, problems, and concerns.
- Ensuring all student needs are met, including health, social well-being, behavior management, and emotional support.
- Supervising evening curfews and morning wake-up procedures, and following lock-up and lights-out protocols.
- Advocating for students' best interests by liaising with parents, agents, and teachers as needed.
- Acting as a mentor, supervisor, and positive role model.
- Listening actively to students facing academic or personal difficulties.
- Fostering respect for self, others, and community.
- Handling first-level behavior issues and consequences.
- Ensuring students are aware of safety rules and emergency procedures (fire, earthquake, medical emergency, lockdown, shutting down gas and water supplies).
- Supporting students with daily routines, including uniform and health needs.
- Coordinating weekend and holiday leave requests and transportation guidelines.
Activities Facilitator Position Summary
- Planning and facilitating engaging on- and off-campus activities for international students in grades 8-12 to promote wellness, community, and personal growth.
- Supporting the coordination and programming of after-school activities and trips, including scheduling, bookings, and student charges.
- Managing student registration, sign-ups, and logistics, including purchasing supplies and collaborating with dorm staff.
- Coordinating off-campus activities, including bookings, transportation, and cost recording.
- Transporting students using school vans and buses.
- Collaborating with the Activities Coordinator and dorm staff to ensure successful activity execution.
Requirements for This Position
- Current BC Class 4 unrestricted or Class 2 Driver's Licence, or ability to obtain within 3 months.
- Clear Ministry of Public Service criminal record check for working with vulnerable children.
- Copy of a clean BC driver’s abstract.
- Standard First Aid with CPR C certification.
- Diploma or Degree in Recreation or related discipline (asset).
- Experience in summer camps, recreational programming, or working with international students (asset).
- Strong computer skills (Microsoft Excel and Word) (asset).
- Punctual, reliable, versatile.
- Ability to work cooperatively and independently.
- Social media experience (asset).
