Reports to: Manager of Donor Relations

Location: Langley, BC (Hybrid)

Salary range: $45,500 - $54,100

About the Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced and passionate full-time Donor Relations Specialist to join our Donor Development team. In this role, you will assist in cultivating relationships with mid-level donors, reactivating lapsed donors, and acquiring new donors. You will also support the Development department with administrative duties and special projects. The role requires attention to detail, organization, strong communication skills, and confidentiality. What’s the job?

Your accountabilities as the Donor Relations Specialist will include:

  1. Intermediate Donor Stewardship and Growth

  1. Collaborate with the Director & Manager of Donor Relations to develop strategies for stewarding and growing mid-level donors.

  1. Write grant proposals and letters.

  1. Brainstorm fundraising themes and stay updated on donor trends.

  1. Work with the Director & Manager of Donor Relations to determine when and where to include specialized offers and campaigns for mid-level donors.

  1. Manage the process of thanking mid-level donors, including making thank-you calls and writing notes as needed.

  1. Lead generation for donor impact stories.

  1. Document and curate impact stories.

  1. Work with the Director of Donor Relations to incorporate these stories or quotes into monthly thank you letters, drafting them for review.

  1. Support donor development by maintaining profiles and reports.

  1. Respond to donor requests.

  1. Support team with travel bookings and event planning, as needed.

  1. Perform expense reconciliation for team members.

  1. Coordinate donor updates and proposals for special projects.

  1. Assist with digital campaigns, donor events, online donation process improvements, and phone campaigns.

  1. Maintain files and budgets, coordinate departmental events, and participate in daily devotions, team events, and meetings.

About You:

  • A deep commitment to the mission, vision, and values of Focus on the Family Canada.

  • A post-secondary degree or equivalent experience in donor relations, fundraising, marketing, business administration, or sales (asset).

  • 2-5 years in donor relations, fundraising, marketing, project management, grant writing, or business analysis. Knowledgeable of list segmentation and data interpretation, preferably within a faith-based organization (asset).

  • Strong oral and written communication, attention to detail, persuasive content drafting, and data interpretation skills.

  • Experience with CRM systems and donor database management.

  • Warm, pleasant phone manner, able to express sincere gratitude and recognize donor generosity.

  • Aptitude for learning new software and typing at least 40+ WPM.

  • Strong organizational skills, ability to maintain files and track details.
