Job Summary
A Brief Overview
Reporting to the Executive Director, Development, Queen's Health Sciences (QHS), the Donor Engagement Officer plays a critical role in sustaining and expanding philanthropic support for QHS at Queen's University. The position directly supports the development cycle—specifically stewardship, recognition, and re-engagement—which are essential for encouraging repeat and major giving.
The Donor Engagement Officer is responsible for developing and executing stewardship strategies to strengthen donor relationships. They manage a portfolio of donors in stewardship and support the QHS fundraising team to ensure all donors are appropriately recognized, informed of their impact, and actively engaged with the university. This includes creating personalized stewardship plans for top-level benefactors whose contributions support things like faculty positions, student bursaries, research funds, and program development.
The role also encompasses the management and optimization of existing funds, working closely with finance teams, faculty leadership, and other stakeholders to ensure that funds are utilized in accordance with donor intentions, reported accurately, and aligned with institutional priorities. This involves providing guidance on fund utilization, tracking fund performance, and ensuring compliance with reporting obligations.
Working closely with the Executive Director, Development, QHS, and collaborating with Central Advancement Donor Experience and administration and finance teams across the Faculty, the Donor Engagement Officer ensures all stewardship activities align with institutional standards and goals. This role is essential for maintaining donor satisfaction, maximizing retention, and driving continued philanthropic support for QHS.
This position recommends, creates, and implements key aspects of development programs, including developing and implementing goals and strategies to maximize funding for priorities. This position identifies, evaluates, and recommend approaches to gaining or deepening relationships with current and prospective donors.
The schedule for this position requires the incumbent to work frequent early mornings, evenings and weekends, according to program or area needs.
