N2N gets to the very root of our community’s needs, offering access to healthy food, skill building programs, tutoring for children, utility support programs, counselling and a host of other interventions.

Job Responsibilities

The Database Specialist is responsible for the processing of donations, database management, generating acknowledgement letters and receipts, has contact with donors, reconciles financial reports for the finance team, and maintains confidential information. This role works as a member of the Development and Marketing team and provides critical support to our development efforts and across the organization.

Database and Finance

  • Work closely with the Finance team to ensure information entered reconciles with financial reports.
  • Responsible for the full-cycle processing and reconciliation of donations and gifts via Raisers Edge including cheques, cash, in-kind, special events, and online donations.
  • Ensure queries and reports are up to date.
  • Process monthly / recurring donations through online platforms.
  • Process online, cash, cheque & in-kind contributions.
  • Pull and enter donor and gift information from Benevity, CanadaHelps, and other online giving platforms in a timely manner.
  • Ensure data is up to date, accurate and free of duplicates.
  • Support onboarding and orientation of staff in the use of Raisers Edge.

Administration

  • Update and maintain mail merges as needed to generate letters and receipts, and direct mail campaigns.
  • Update records from returned email and mail correspondences.
  • Create and mail tax receipts and manage tax receipt inquiries.
  • Receive donor-related correspondence and administer accordingly.
  • Support the organization's administrative needs.
  • Other duties as required.
  • Qualifications

  • 2 years' experience working with Raiser’s Edge.
  • Post-Secondary in a relevant discipline, preferred.
  • Knowledge of CRA rules and regulations.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office 365 (Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point).
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work well within a team and across functional groups.
  • Highly resourceful, intuitive and flexible.
  • Demonstrates a high level of professionalism and is reliable.
  • Proven organizational and time management skills with a keen attention to details.
  • Proven history successfully using databases and the ability to quickly learn new ones.
  • Must provide a clear criminal record check.
  • Nice to Haves

  • Experience with third party giving platforms (Benevity, CanadaHelps, etc).
  • Experience working with non-profits.
  • Understanding of donor relations and stewardship principles.
