Job summary

Kiewit Energy Canada District is seeking a Document Control Specialist to support management of engineering documents for permanent design projects. This role is based in Calgary, Alberta, and requires full-time in-office work.

You will handle distribution, prepare transmittals, perform quality checks, and maintain document management systems. Strong communication, organization, and teamwork are essential; knowledge of EDMS like InEight, SharePoint, or Aconex is a plus.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, information management, information technology, data management, or computer information systems is preferred, though not required.
  • 3+ years' experience, requires advanced knowledge of operational procedures and tools.
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Detail oriented with effective organization and coordination skills
  • Identify tools, systems and techniques to index, file and control engineering documents; adapt to changing requirements; multitask and work independently; collaborate in a team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Support and assist management of engineering documents in accordance with regulations for various projects.
  • Process internal and external distribution of engineering documentation and prepare transmittals.
  • Review and conduct quality checks; configure, update and maintain document management systems and permissions; update distribution matrices.
  • Address and resolve any document control issues promptly.

Position Overview

As a Document Control Specialist, you will support and assist the Kiewit Energy Canada distrit with the management of engineering documents in accordance with government/company regulations for various permanent design projects.

District Overview

Kiewit Energy Canada is headquartered in Calgary, Alberta. We are a major industrial contractor that work on projects that involve construction of oil & gas facilities such as oilsands processing, including steam–assisted gravity drainage facilities, upgrading & refining, midstream facilities, power & co-generation, terminal projects (ex. LNG, LPG, etc.), Water Treatment and major mine developments. We also have a Modular Yard facility in Edmonton, Alberta. Our engineering branch is a leading-edge division that offers innovative engineering services for our current projects and new pursuits in Canada. Our design services group are based in Calgary, Lenexa KS and Houston TX offering expertise in process, piping, mechanical, electrical and civil/structural disciplines.

Location

The position is based in Calgary, Alberta. You will be required to work in-office full-time.

Responsibilities
  • The Document Control Specialist will support and assist the management of engineering documents in accordance with government/company regulations and procedures on various projects.
  • The Document Control Specialist is responsible for processing internal and external distribution of engineering documentation on incoming and outgoing workflows, and preparing transmittals for document distribution, as directed.
  • Other duties include reviewing and/or conducting quality checks of documents, as needed; configuring, updating and maintaining engineering document management systems and permissions; updating and maintaining various distribution matrixes
  • Address and resolve any issues related to document control promptly.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, information management, information technology, data management, or computer information systems is preferred, though not required.
  • 3+ years' experience, requires advanced knowledge of operational procedures and tools obtained through extensive work experience.
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Detail oriented with effective organization and coordination skills
  • Ability to:
    • identify and utilize the correct tools, systems and techniques to index, file and control engineering documents
    • remain flexible when dealing with changing requirements
    • multi-task and work proactively to resolve issues
    • work independently
    • effectively collaborate with others in a team-based environment
  • Proficiency in software such as Bluebeam, Adobe Pro, or Smartsheet is preferred
  • Experience with EDMS such as InEight Document, SharePoint, Aconex is preferred
  • Knowledge of construction and engineering related terms is an asset
  • Knowledge of Bluebeam Studio for comment resolution is an asset #LI-GH
