Job summary

Armour Transportation Systems in Dartmouth, NS is seeking a hands-on Dock Operations Associate to monitor safety, read KPI screens, and itemize freight to meet daily targets. You will coordinate with Dock Supervisors, assign work, and ensure the right equipment is ready for loading and unloading before the early morning cut-off.

Responsibilities include maintaining safety, using scanners as required, facilitating outbound units, and participating in cross-dock activities and scheduled meetings.

  • Experience operating a forklift is an asset.

Position Overview

As a key member of our dock operations team, you will monitor and address safety concerns, read KPI screens, and itemize freight to support daily targets. You'll communicate effectively with Dock Supervisors and staff, assign work as needed, and ensure the right equipment is in place for loading and unloading operations. A core responsibility is ensuring all dedicated LTL delivery and straight trucks are loaded and ready ahead of the early morning cut-off. You will also support Reweigh & Cube goals, conduct Cross Dock Tours as directed, and participate in scheduled meetings and correspondence in a timely manner.

Wednesday - Sunday | 6:00am - 3:00pm

Responsibilities
  • Responsible to watch for/address any safety concerns
  • Ensure KPI screens are read and itemize freight
  • Effective communication with Dock Supervisors and Staff, and able to assign work
  • Ensure proper equipment is utilized for outbound lanes, and facilitate units for loading/unloading
  • Ensure all dedicated LTL deliver & straight trucks are loaded for early am cut-off time
  • Ensure expectations are met to attain Reweigh & Cube goals
  • Conduct formal Cross Dock Tours as directed
  • Attend any planned meetings and respond to correspondence & voice mails within agreed timelines
  • Additional duties as required
What we need from you
  • A Willingness to Work!Dependability & a Good Attitude are key
  • Reliable Transportation - MUST be living in the area and able to get to work
  • Previous experience operating Forklift is an asset
  • Ability to use scanners, paperwork where required
  • Ability to work Safely in a fast-paced team environment
  • Attend Training sessions as required, i.e. Dangerous Goods, Forklift
  • Physically demanding, heavy lifting is a requirement
  • Warehouse conditions: possible high noise levels, warm or cold environment (dependent on weather)
  • Safety boots/shoes
  • Clean criminal background
