Overview

The Automotive DMV/Title Clerk performs a wide range of administrative and office support duties associated with vehicle documentation, such as titles, registrations, license plates, and other vehicle or owner information. He or she also helps with inventory tracking, record keeping, and reporting. The ideal candidate has some post-secondary education (degree, coursework, or certification) and at least one year of experience in a similar position. He or she can work in a fast-paced and challenging environment handling multiple projects and must have excellent communication, administrative, organizational, and computer skills.

Responsibilities
  • Manages vehicle documentation, including tax and title information, registrations, etc.
  • Provides timely and accurate reports as required.
  • Processes DMV paperwork for new, used, and wholesale vehicles for the dealership.
  • Ensures retail transactions are processed timely.
  • Prepares purchase and trade-in documentation.
  • Contacts banks to obtain lien releases.
  • Verifies the costs and transactions for each vehicle sale.
  • Assists in creating and processing leasing and loan paperwork.
  • Prepares necessary paperwork for submission to the tag agency.
  • Ensures the company's tag and title work meets state requirements.
  • Prepares and submits all legal transfer documents to the state department of motor vehicles (DMV).
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • MUST have 2+ years Automotive DMV Clerk Experience (ONLY AUTOMOTIVE EXPERIENCE NEED APPLY).
  • Excellent telephone skills.
  • Excellent communication, customer service, and problem-solving skills, including the ability to maintain composure under stress.
  • Must be detail-oriented and able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Helpful attitude and friendly demeanor.
  • Highly professional and dependable.
  • Strong computer and internet skills, including Microsoft Office suite.
  • Ability to post contracts preferred.
  • Must possess good organization skills.
  • Knowledge of DMV/MVSC DESK program is a PLUS.
  • Knowledge of out-of-state titles is a PLUS.
  • Must have good work ethics, including maintaining a neat work area.
  • Excellent follow-through skills.
  • Tekion experience is a PLUS.
  • Good attendance required.
