Main Objective:

The DMU Maintenance Manager is responsible for:

  • Ensuring production targets, quality standards, and safety requirements are achieved through the execution of the production plan and efficient management of resources.
  • Ensuring trains are delivered on time in a safe, clean, and fully functional condition to our customers.

Limits of Authority: Operate and execute within the DMU REMSA agreement with Metrolinx and schedule all work as per the DMU Master Maintenance Schedule (MMS).

Key Areas of Work

Safety:
  • Execute Alstom’s safety plan by completing audits, communicating deviations, investigating incidents, documenting risks, and supporting a safety culture by leading by example.
Management:
  • Support the supervisors by supporting the daily operating plan through communication and escalation to the Deputy Senior Manager.
  • Follow up with the planner on the daily maintenance schedule and coordinate to ensure alignment.
  • Manage unionized and direct report absenteeism according to company policies and processes.
Administration:
  • Ensure all work is recorded through Maximo work orders.
  • Ensure compliance with parts issuing procedures.
  • Support supervisors in managing unionized Kronos payroll entries.
  • Process paperwork and submit for Maximo entry.
Failure Analysis:
  • Investigate service-impacting failures and communicate findings in detail.
  • Schedule service repairs and verify quality.

Related Activities

  • Participate in personnel performance evaluations and succession planning.
  • Supervise personnel to maximize efficiency while adhering to company policies and procedures.
  • Require 5+ years of management responsibility in a manufacturing or maintenance environment.
  • Effective technical knowledge of Metrolinx Go and UP fleets.
  • Operational and scheduling knowledge of Metrolinx Go and UP fleets.
  • Knowledge of regulator operational requirements for passenger rail service.
  • Knowledge of preventive maintenance, work order, and scheduling techniques.
  • Effective communication skills with internal and external staff across various disciplines and levels.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of working procedures and techniques in the trade area.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for training and coaching activities.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office suite.
