Job summary

Aplin in Terrace, BC seeks a Civil Engineering Division Manager to lead a local team while staying hands-on with projects, clients, and the technical side of the business. You will mentor engineers, manage full project lifecycles, and build strong client relationships.

Ideal candidates will hold a P.Eng. BC, have 6+ years of progressive consulting experience, and show a strong drive for growth across Western Canada.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent.
  • P.Eng. registration in British Columbia required.
  • Ideally 6+ years of progressive consulting engineering experience.
  • Experience leading civil engineering projects and/or teams.
  • Experience mentoring and developing technical professionals.
  • Strong civil infrastructure and municipal engineering experience.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and grow a team of Professional Engineers, Engineers-in-Training, and Civil Design Technologists.
  • Provide project and technical leadership across a varied portfolio of civil infrastructure projects.
  • Remain involved in engineering, design, project management, construction support, and site activities.

About the Opportunity

As Civil Engineering Division Manager, you will lead a local team while continuing to be actively involved in projects, clients, and the technical side of the business. You will work with professionals across civil, structural, environmental, surveying, and related disciplines, with access to technical expertise and resources throughout Western Canada. What You'll Do
  • Lead, mentor, and grow a team of Professional Engineers, Engineers-in-Training, and Civil Design Technologists.
  • Provide project and technical leadership across a varied portfolio of civil infrastructure projects.
  • Remain involved in engineering, design, project management, construction support, and site activities.
  • Manage projects through the full lifecycle, from concept and design through construction and completion.
  • Build and strengthen long-term client relationships.
  • Identify new opportunities and contribute to business development and proposals.
  • Participate in client meetings, presentations, and community and industry events.
  • Coach and mentor junior and intermediate professionals and support their career development.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams throughout Western Canada.
  • Work with municipalities, Indigenous communities, resource-sector clients, developers, contractors, and other regional stakeholders.
  • Support project budgets, schedules, quality, and financial performance.
  • Help shape the growth strategy for the Terrace civil engineering practice.
  • Build a strong local team and position the office for continued growth.
Project Variety

You'll have the opportunity to work across a diverse portfolio of projects and sectors, rather than being tied to one project type, Potential areas include:

The position also provides the opportunity to get out into the field, visit active project sites, interact with clients and contractors, and stay connected to the practical delivery of your projects.

What You'll Bring
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent.
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) registration in British Columbia is required.
  • Ideally 6+ years of progressive consulting engineering experience.
  • Experience leading civil engineering projects and/or teams.
  • Experience mentoring and developing technical professionals.
  • Strong civil infrastructure and municipal engineering experience.
  • Exposure to municipal, land development, transportation, resource, mining, industrial, or related infrastructure projects.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain strong client relationships.
  • An interest in business development and growing a regional practice.
  • Strong communication, relationship-building, and organizational skills.
  • A collaborative leadership style and a genuine interest in helping people succeed.
  • The confidence and initiative to take ownership and make decisions.
