Job details
  1. Job Overview: The Early Childhood Education and Care (ECEC) Manager oversees all aspects of daily operations within the childcare facility. This includes managing staff, ensuring compliance with the BC Child Care Licensing Regulations, and maintaining accurate program and client records. The ECEC Manager will prioritize children's health, safety, and development, aligning with current provincial legislation, policies, and procedures. The role also involves managing the ECEC budget, tracking expenditures and revenues, and maintaining financial records. Must be available Monday to Friday from 7:00 am to 6:00 pm.
  2. Key Responsibilities:
    1. Staff Management: Supervise and support staff, ensure adherence to best practices and professional standards. Facilitate performance reviews, professional development, and team meetings. Foster a positive work environment.
    2. Regulatory Compliance & Safety: Ensure compliance with BC Child Care Licensing Regulations. Monitor the physical environment for safety and cleanliness. Maintain confidential files in accordance with privacy and licensing requirements.
    3. Financial Management: Oversee the ECEC budget, track expenses and revenues, prepare financial reports, and ensure expenditures align with the budget. Maintain accurate financial records and provide transparent reports to management.
    4. Operational Management: Manage daily operations, including scheduling, resource allocation, and program development. Ensure availability and condition of supplies and equipment. Collaborate with leadership to improve operational efficiency.
    5. Reporting & Documentation: Ensure timely reporting as per licensing requirements. Keep records of incidents, accidents, and health-related matters. Prepare reports on operations, finances, and compliance.
  3. Qualifications & Skills:
    1. Degree or diploma in Early Childhood Education (ECE) or related field.
    2. Valid ECE certification and current First Aid/CPR certification.
    3. Minimum of [X] years in a supervisory or managerial role within an ECEC setting.
    4. Knowledge of BC Child Care Licensing Regulations and relevant legislation.
    5. Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
    6. Financial management experience, including budgeting and reporting.
    7. Discretion in handling confidential information.
  4. Additional Duties:
    • Supervise and manage daycare staff, including recruitment, onboarding, coaching, performance evaluation, and training.
    • Maintain communication with parents regarding program expectations and children's progress.
    • Develop and maintain client files, manage the daycare budget, and oversee registration processes.
    • Provide ECE support for programs as needed.
    • Participate in community events and abide by the Code of Ethics of Early Childhood Educators of B.C.
    • Perform duties in accordance with OKIB policies and procedures, and assist in emergency services if required.
  5. Work Environment: Location: Courtenay, BC. Workplace: On-site. Salary: $24.00/hour. Terms: Full-time. Start: As soon as possible. Vacancies: 1.
