Job summary

Associated Youth Services of Peel (AYSP) seeks a dedicated Coordinator to support the Diversion program, which directs youths away from formal proceedings toward rehabilitation.

The role is permanent full-time, based hybrid at our Head Office in Peel Region, with 35 hours per week, days and evenings.

Responsibilities include community-based service delivery under YJ Act, liaising with Crown, meeting youth and families, documenting plans, and providing training and outreach as needed.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of the Youth Criminal Justice Act and CYFSA, Provincial Offences Act and the Extra Judicial Sanctions/Extra Judicial Measures Model.
  • Minimum 1-2 years’ experience working with youth; experience in youth justice is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Provide community-based services mandated by the Youth Criminal Justice Act as an alternate to custody for young people in contact with Youth Court and police.
  • Respond to referrals from Crown Attorney’s office for Extra Judicial Sanctions (EJS) and Peel Regional Police for Extra Judicial Measures (EJM).
  • Meet with youth and their parents/caregivers in person and/or virtually.
  • Develop new and innovative program sanctions/measures to address the changing needs of the program and clients.
  • Facilitate group and individual programming, as required.
  • Establish and maintain professional alliances with collateral agencies/organizations.
  • Maintain professional documentation, in the form of intake, service plans, discharge summaries and/or case summaries and statistical information.
  • Provide training to volunteers who support client and program needs.
  • Work flexible hours related to the needs of the clients, evening work will be required.

Associated Youth Services of Peel (AYSP) is an accredited, not-for-profit charitable organization, supporting children, youth and families with mental health and/or youth justice issues. We are currently seeking a Coordinator to join our Diversionteam. The Diversion program is intended to divert young people pre-charge (EJM) and post-charge (EJS) away from formal criminal proceedings and into a program of rehabilitation.

Job Type: Permanent Full-time (one vacancy)

Location: Hybrid - Head Office in Peel Region

Qualifications And Experience
  • Undergraduate Degree or Community College diploma in a social science or related field
  • Knowledge of the Youth Criminal Justice Act and CYFSA, Provincial Offences Act and the Extra Judicial Sanctions/Extra Judicial Measures Model
  • Minimum 1-2 years’ experience working with youth. Experience working in the Youth Justice sector will be considered an asset
Salary Range

$49,409 - $58,772
