Job summary

The Government of Manitoba is seeking a District Project Manager (P8) in Selkirk, MB, to lead multiple construction, facility, maintenance and capital projects for the district. This regular full‑time role reports to the District Property Manager and sits within Public Service Delivery.

You will drive projects from planning through close‑out, ensuring safety, schedule and budget compliance while collaborating with senior officials, consultants and contractors to meet district infrastructure

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in construction project management or related field.
  • Significant experience managing construction, facility, maintenance, or capital projects.
  • Knowledge of budgeting, financial controls, procurement, and contract administration.
  • Experience coordinating contractors, consultants, and multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong verbal communication skills.
  • Written communication skills.
  • Effective organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks, adapt to changing priorities and meet strict deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and decision‑making skills.
  • Knowledge of codes, legislation, safety, and regulatory compliance.

  • Experience with Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Responsibilities

  • Reporting to the District Property Manager, manage multiple construction, facility, maintenance, and capital projects for the district and client departments.
  • Provide project leadership from planning and design through procurement, construction, commissioning and close‑out, ensuring safety, schedule, budget and compliance.
  • Work closely with senior government officials, consultants, contractors, and stakeholders to support district infrastructure and facility objectives.

Duties

Reporting to the District Property Manager, the Project Manager is responsible for managing multiple construction, facility, maintenance, and capital projects for the district, client departments, Special Operating Agencies, and other government organizations. The position provides project leadership from planning and design through procurement, construction, commissioning, and project close-out while ensuring projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with applicable policies, standards, and legislation. The incumbent works closely with senior government officials, consultants, contractors, and stakeholders to support district infrastructure and facility objectives.

Qualifications
  • Post‑secondary degree or diploma in a field relating to construction project management including architecture, engineering, or an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Significant experience managing construction, facility, maintenance, or capital projects.
  • Knowledge of budgeting, financial controls, procurement, and contract administration.
  • Experience coordinating contractors, consultants, and multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong verbal communication skills.

Conditions of Employment
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
  • Must be willing and able to travel
  • Must possess and maintain a valid class 5F Manitoba Driver's Licence
