School District No. 42 (SD42) serves approximately 17,000 students of all ages in Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows. The district is committed to prioritizing student learning and growth in all decision-making processes. With an annual budget exceeding $200 million and over 2,000 staff members, SD42 offers K-12 educational services across 22 elementary schools, six secondary schools, and two alternative schools. Additionally, it provides various certificate programs and lifelong learning opportunities through Ridge Meadows College and Continuing Education.
SD42 is seeking qualified applicants for the position of District Elementary Counsellor within our Safe and Caring Schools program. This is a 1.0 FTE Continuing role. The successful candidate will be part of a team of educators providing leadership in our schools. Reporting to the Principal, this role will support and assist school counsellors in their counselling duties. The District Elementary Counsellor will collaborate with the helping teacher team and will be responsible for tasks such as developing a counselling handbook, updating protocols and policies, coordinating training, and strengthening community partnerships.
Applicants should have or be enrolled in a master's degree in counselling psychology or an equivalent field, with successful elementary classroom teaching and counselling experience. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, especially with school-based teams and professionals, are essential. The ability to work collaboratively within a team is also required.
