Job description

Overview

This is a TERM position is located in Hay River, NT - Term to September 2027

Working in a team environment, the Distribution Technologist is responsible for the Electric Service Request Desk, Work Order Estimating System, Contract and Service Agreement Creation / Tracking, Large Job Materials Requisitions, Type 5, 6 and 7 Project Logistics, New Easements / ROW Documentation, Special Contract Monitoring, and provides Technical Support to Asset Manager of TDO and the TDO Managers.

Responsibilities
  • Manage all T&D Service Requests (Type 5, 6, 7) by:
    • Being Single Contact point with Customers;
    • Preparation of Construction Contracts with Customers;
    • Monitoring and Communicating Work Order Completions; and
    • Managing T&D Work Order records to permit timely and accurate closing of completed work orders.
  • Negotiate the solution of Customer/Electrician/Governmental Service Request Related Issues.
  • Provide design, cost estimating, contracts, and material requisitions with the support of Crew Leads.
  • Initiate Material Requisitions for Customer and Internal Work Orders.
  • Prioritize both customer and internal work request scheduling with the TDO Managers and Crew Leads.
  • Coordinates the execution of customer projects during planning, engineering, construction and commissioning phases. Communicates frequently with the team, keeping them informed and involved in project development in a timely fashion.
  • Other duties as required.
Qualifications
  • Must have a minimum of a two (2) year diploma in technology or an engineering field from a recognized Institute of Technology WITH a m inimum of three (3) years’ relevant experience working with an electric utility. Equivalencies may be considered.
  • Above average computer knowledge and experience using spread sheets, word processing, project scheduling and other related software packages. Good keyboarding skills are essential.
  • Good planning, organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to isolate problems and suggest alternatives towards solutions
  • Must possess exceptional negotiating skills and perform under public / customer demands and scrutiny. Ability to maintain composure under pressure and retain positive customer relations. Must have conflict resolution skills.
  • Team player, ability to work with minimum supervision.
  • Class 5 driver's license is an asset.
  • Satisfactory criminal record check is required.

Salary for this position ranges from $54.10/hr-$65.72/hr. plus approximately $3,823 in location allowance per annum. We offer a comprehensive benefits package which includes health and dental benefits, disability insurance, life insurance, paid sick days and a defined benefits pension plan. Relocation assistance may be provided. This position is located in Hay River, NT -- this is not a rotational/fly-in position.
