What's the role?
The Distribution Team Member oversees all functions related to the safe, environmentally responsible loading, unloading, and shipping of rail cars and trucks, ensuring compliance with Shell, industry, and government standards. This role serves as the field execution lead for all rail and loading activities during the shift.
This role is responsible for:
- Monitoring shift loading progress and performance, and identifying constraints to meeting the plan
- Supporting Rail Contractor in loading/off-loading of rail cars (Sulphur, HAO, HOS), Sulphur Truck loading, and rail yard car movements safely and responsibly
- Supporting Rail & Loading contractor by ensuring the availability of distribution consumables (placards, car seals)
- Conducting assurance walks and observations of loading and switching in distribution areas
- Assessing Contractor Front Line Barrier Management on shift
- Reviewing executed procedures for units and providing updates as needed
- Troubleshooting loading system issues and escalating when necessary
- Adhering to compliance with license to operate an industrial railway
- Following TDG compliance in the distribution area
- Ensuring shift logs are up to date and recording threats in the Shift Plan
- Entering notifications for the distribution area
- Creating isolation packages to support maintenance planning, scheduling, and execution
- Preparing and isolating equipment for repairs or maintenance following safe work practices
- Permitting maintenance work following the Permit to Work Safe Work Practice
- Reviewing and executing daily order instructions
- Escalating environmental compliance concerns to the Chemicals & Distribution Production Team Leader
- Conducting winterization walkdowns and entering data into the Extreme Weather Bad Actor Registry
- May be required to fill a reserve worker role
What you bring
- Legal authorization to work in Canada full-time outside current employment
- Minimum 3 years related experience preferred in manufacturing
- Willingness to obtain a 4th class Power Engineering certificate
- Experience with rail car and truck loading/offloading is advantageous
- Knowledge of emergency response protocols is beneficial
- Ability to manage equipment isolation activities
- Basic computer skills (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
- Class 5 Driver's License required
