Distribution Sourcing Consultant

Location: Toronto, ON, CA

The Material Costing and Awards Consultant leads strategic sourcing and supplier management for critical and high-value commodities on a global or regional scale, ensuring effective source selection, process implementation, and cost management. This role provides guidance to cross-functional teams, driving material pricing strategies, customer BOM analysis, and the deployment of sourcing strategies for new business opportunities. With expertise in supplier negotiations, relationship management, and industry trends—particularly in the EMS sector—the Material Costing and Awards Consultant ensures supplier performance, resolves issues, and conducts business reviews with key stakeholders. Exceptional communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills, combined with a strong understanding of global supply chain dynamics, enable this role to align supplier strategies with organizational goals.

Requirements
  • Maintains responsibility for global and/or regional critical or high dollar commodity and/or coordination of a group of Commodity Analysts.
  • Provides direction for source selection and ensures proper process implementation.
  • Provides leadership to the Material Cost and Awards teams for New Business Sourcing Strategy deployment.
  • Provides commercial direction to the Material Pricing team in support of Customer Materials Commitment process from materials pricing and customer BOM analysis perspective.
  • Deployment of Direct/Distribution Commodity Strategy including performance reporting to senior management.
  • Actively engages with suppliers on High Profile, Must Win Quotes; Negotiates critical high dollar or strategic commodities and/or provides direction to the team.
  • Manages the supplier relationships including performance feedback, supplier report card and problem resolution on New Business Quoting activity.
  • Conducts quarterly business reviews with senior management with key/strategic suppliers.
  • Provides guidance, leadership and direction with respect to interaction with suppliers.
  • Excellent Supplier Relationship Management Skills.
  • Strong understanding of EMS Suppliers, and respective Direct or Distribution network.
  • Leads process development and the development of supplier engagement strategies.
  • Experience within EMS industry considered an asset.
  • Expert knowledge of the marketplace conditions for a broad range of strategic commodities, industry pricing, technology, supply/demand and emerging trends.
  • Excellent understanding of the global business environment and Customers business, organization, products and processes.
  • Ability to lead complex negotiations effectively.
  • Expert knowledge of office systems and analytical tools.
  • Expert problem solving skills to deal with Customer/Supplier issues.
  • Ability to evaluate, prioritize and problem solve a variety of tasks to ensure their timely and accurate completion.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with a wide variety of internal and external customers.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively across functions and with suppliers/customers to achieve Celestica’s goals.
  • Exceptional presentation skills, ability to provide concise information as well as to create and execute strategies.
Typical Education and Experience
  • 8-10 years of relevant experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in relevant field (i.e. Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain & Operations, Business etc.).
  • Certification in Supply Chain considered an asset.
