Description

We are a friendly boutique law firm of four lawyers in Cloverdale, with a growing practice in charity law, society matters, estates, and corporate law.Our active litigation practice requires an associate who would take over files from a retiring litigator. We are looking for someone to take on a leadership role with this part of our firm’s work.

Our clients are a diverse mix of community service organizations, housing providers, care facilities, schools, religious organizations, and other non-profits, engaged in innovative, interesting, and socially beneficial projects. We also act for business corporations and individuals. The position involves work and mentoring opportunities with our senior lawyers and associates, and provides opportunity for advancement within the firm. We give back to the charitable and non-profit sector through standard fee discounts, an annual donation from our revenue, and free webinars and conferences.

We’re looking for a lawyer who :

  • has an interest in the practice of charity, non-profit and employment law;
  • has experience with litigation and mediation (including running trials and utilizing other dispute resolution mechanisms);
  • is a member of the Law Society of BC;
  • is prepared to manage a wide variety of litigation issues, such as society member disputes, estate claims, builder’s liens, real estate or contract matters, etc. (but not tax matters, criminal files, or family law cases);
  • is a proactive self-starter; and
  • has strong attention to detail.

Ideally you will also have some of the following :

  • interest and experience in the charitable sector;
  • a law degree from a Canadian university.
