Qualifications

• College, CEGEP, or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 3 months to less than 1 year

Tasks

1. Analyze the client's eyeglasses or contact lenses by measuring eye curvature, pupillary distance, and bridge width using optical measuring devices.
2. Obtain specifications for eyeglasses and contact lenses from prescriptions prepared by ophthalmologists or optometrists.
3. Supervise or manage activities of other opticians or student opticians.
4. Assist clients in selecting eyeglasses.
5. Advise on the use and care of contact lenses.
6. Adjust finished eyeglasses to fit the client.
