Purpose

Assigns motor vehicles and drivers for the conveyance of building materials by performing the following duties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Compiles list of available vehicles.
  • Assigns vehicles based on trip length, purpose, freight or passenger requirements, and user preference.
  • Assigns orders to lift operators from inventory.
  • Issues keys, record sheets, and credentials to drivers.
  • Records departure time, destination, cargo, and expected return time.
  • Investigates overdue vehicles.
  • Directs driver activities via two-way radio.
  • Confers with customers to expedite or locate missing, misrouted, delayed, or damaged merchandise.
  • Maintains records of mileage, fuel, repairs, and expenses.
  • Establishes service or delivery routes.
  • Assigns helpers to drivers.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Minimum Requirements

High school diploma or GED, with six months to one year of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Must be able to perform all essential duties satisfactorily.

Competencies
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures and regulations; write basic business correspondence; effectively present information and respond to questions.
  • Mathematical skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
  • Ability to follow written, oral, or diagram instructions and solve problems involving concrete variables.
