Job description

SECURE is a leading Waste Management and Energy Infrastructure business headquartered in Calgary, Alberta. Energy Infrastructure includes Blending & Facility Supply and Trading & Storage.

As the Dispatcher, you will be responsible for coordinating service call-ins from customers, in addition to service requests from the Waste Services team, and ensuring that all such service requests are addressed in a timely manner. Additionally, you will be responsible for developing efficient, cost-effective service routes that minimize travel time, meet customer needs, and coordinate drivers’ schedules.

The Dispatch role is a full-time position based out of our Richmond office, scheduled Monday to Friday with 8-hour workdays.

  • Receive service requests from internal and external sources.
  • Enter service request details into the customer management system to create work orders.
  • Coordinate with clients to schedule service dates based upon priority and work order age.
  • Develop service routes to maximize equipment and driver utilization while minimizing travel time.
  • Ensure drivers are equipped with all paperwork, inventory sheets, consumables, etc. to fulfill customer needs at all scheduled stops.
  • Understand, communicate, and adhere to all site-specific safety requirements as well as DOT and TDG regulations.
  • Update the Central Dispatch calendar as required, and distribute the calendar via email daily to drivers, remote locations, and transportation.
  • Regularly update the call-in map to reflect completed runs versus open work orders and assist in asset tracking and bin inventories.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Working knowledge of the Oil and Gas industry including experience with oilfield roads, orientation requirements, site access/egress limitations, etc.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office. Experience with dispatching software and/or waste tracking software is considered an asset.
  • Strong organizational skills and an ability to multitask.
  • Familiarity with TDG regulations and Provincial and Federal DOT regulations and permits.
  • Capacity to foster relationships and collaborate effectively with both internal and external stakeholders which involves adept listening skills to comprehend directions and feedback.
  • Ability to diplomatically address any arising issues or concerns.
  • Experience in a Waste or Transportation related industry is preferred.
  • Possess strong problem-solving, decision-making, research, and analytical skills.
  • Possess the versatility to thrive in both team-oriented and independent work settings. An ability to prioritize open communication and honesty with team members across all facets of your work.
