We’re hiring a Dishwashing Steward to join our world-class team at Sonora Resort, a luxury all-inclusive Relais & Châteaux Resort, in the unspoiled wilderness of British Columbia. Nestled in the Discovery Islands, Sonora Resort is a remote location accessed by water taxi from the town of Campbell River on Vancouver Island. This is a seasonal position that works on-site at the resort in shift work rotations, with a start date ideally in mid-May.

Resort Life
  • All staff are provided with complimentary single-bedroom accommodations, with Wi-Fi, cable TV, and internet calling in each staff room.
  • Complimentary meals, snacks, and beverages are available from our Staff Kitchen.
  • Shift work is required from April to October, comprising 10 working days and 4 days off, with potential adjustments during peak season. Flexibility in scheduling is expected.
  • Water taxi transportation is provided to and from Campbell River for scheduled shifts.
  • Staff must leave the resort on their scheduled days off and are responsible for their own transportation and accommodation thereafter.
  • On-site amenities include a staff lounge, fitness facilities, hot tub, outdoor lounge, trout ponds, hiking trails, and Florence Lake with available canoe and paddleboards.

Position Summary

The Dishwashing Steward is responsible for maintaining cleanliness and organization in the commercial kitchen dishwashing area. Responsibilities include assisting with deep cleaning, grocery deliveries, and other tasks as outlined in the job description.

Job Duties
  • Demonstrate service behaviors aligned with Relais & Châteaux standards.
  • Receive, clean, and store products arriving from the dock per chef’s standards.
  • Complete daily and weekly cleaning tasks to standard.
  • Maintain workstations to chef’s standards.
  • Be knowledgeable of all menu items and changes.
  • Prepare and execute all items on assigned station.
  • Assist with cleaning the entire kitchen at day’s end.
  • Maintain effective communication with colleagues and departments.
Qualifications
  • Legally eligible to work in Canada.
  • Fluent in English; second language an asset.
  • First Aid certification is an asset.
  • Current Food Safe Certificate.
  • Culinary Arts Levels 1, 2, or 3.
  • Red Seal certification is an asset.
  • Three years of cooking experience; resort experience preferred.
