Job summary

Cogir Senior Living in Ontario is seeking a Dishwasher to support daily kitchen operations in our retirement residence. You will load, operate and empty dishwashers, keep surfaces clean, and help maintain a safe, orderly dining area for residents.

The role emphasizes empathy for residents, adherence to food handling procedures, and teamwork with the Culinary Manager. English literacy is required, and candidates must provide a current Vulnerable Sector Check.

Qualifications

• Must have empathy for the elderly and ability to get along with the handicapped.
• Ability to understand and follow proper food handling and storage procedures.
• Ability to understand and follow directions to serve food correctly according to portion control.
• Ability to work accurately and quickly.
• Able to read and write English.
• Must provide a current Vulnerable Sector Check (including Criminal Background Check) or be willing to obtain one.

Responsibilities

• To load, operate and empty dishwashers, putting the dishes away.
• To maintain a clean cooking area, including work table surfaces, stoves, ovens, grills, food storage room and exhaust hood, etc.
• To damp mop floors.
• To clean other kitchen equipment such as blenders, refrigerators, dishwashers, etc.
• To perform all duties with cleanliness in mind.
• To be aware of Resident Rights & Responsibilities and promote it.
• To attend in-service training as required to better serve residents' dietary needs.
• To attend staff meetings as required to be aware of Residence changes.
• To participate in the Quality Improvement Program.
• To work in a position of trust with vulnerable adults (residents).
• To uphold and promote the organization's values relating to ethics, morality, and integrity.
• To complete other duties as assigned.

Reporting to the Culinary Manager, the Dishwasher is responsible for the loading, operating and emptying of the dishwasher, in addition to ensuring all kitchen equipment and surfaces are kept clean and operational.

Key Responsibilities
