The ideal candidate will also have experience in leading consultation programs with stakeholders, agencies, and the public, multi-modal transportation planning and engineering, extensive technical expertise, project management, leadership, business development, and strategic problem-solving skills. You will lead the development and implementation of planning solutions, manage client relationships at the senior management level, and provide oversight and mentorship to a dynamic team of engineers and planners.

This position offers an exciting opportunity to work on transformative projects, contribute to the development of sustainable transportation systems, and build strong relationships with public and private sector clients in the Toronto, the broader Ontario, and Eastern Canada markets. It also involves spearheading municipal mobility plans, such as transit scopes, and the development of Complete Streets projects, sustainability initiatives, and bike share and e-scooter programs. A key responsibility is providing expertise in mobility visioning to help shape innovative and forward-thinking transportation solutions. This role also includes performing senior-level technical work, delegating assignments, and overseeing the completion of technical tasks by junior team members, ensuring quality deliverables such as technical reports, studies, and analyses related to multi-modal planning projects.

Additionally, this role includes managing and supervising mid-sized teams and resources, providing effective direction to project teams to ensure successful execution. Strong communication skills are essential, as the role requires engaging with team members at all levels, providing technical guidance, oversight, and mentorship to foster growth and collaboration. Additionally, this role includes performing technical reviews of work products to ensure accuracy and compliance with standards, managing project budgets to ensure delivery on time and within budget, and building and maintaining strong business relationships with public and private sector clients, including managing relationships at senior management levels.

Business development is another key aspect of this role, which includes identifying opportunities, preparing proposals, and presenting to prospective clients to support organizational growth. The role also involves recruiting, motivating, and mentoring team members to foster professional development and meet project objectives. Staying current with Ontario and Eastern Canada market conditions, including transportation policies, standards, and trends, is essential to ensuring projects remain relevant and aligned with industry needs. Through effective leadership and technical expertise, this role supports the delivery of impactful transportation solutions and sustainable mobility programs while advancing Arcadis’ presence in the region.

Qualifications & Experience:

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Planning, Civil Engineering, or a related field
  • Registered Professional Planner (RPP) or Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) or equivalent
  • 15+ years of relevant planning or engineering experience, including leadership in developing and implementing transportation solutions related to sustainable programs

  • Strong professional consulting skills, including project management, client relationship management, and commercial acumen at senior management levels
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to develop and deliver professional presentations
  • Excellent time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines concurrently

Preferred:
