Role description:
Arcadis is seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Transportation Planner / Engineer to join our growing team in Toronto, ON. This senior-level role will be a discipline lead for the New Mobility team and will report to the Business Unit Leader, Mobility Advisory, Ontario. The role requires a recognized expert in transportation planning, preliminary design, sustainability programs, Complete Streets, bike share and e-scooter programs. The ideal candidate will also have experience in leading consultation programs with stakeholders, agencies, and the public, multi-modal transportation planning and engineering, extensive technical expertise, project management, leadership, business development, and strategic problem-solving skills. You will lead the development and implementation of planning solutions, manage client relationships at the senior management level, and provide oversight and mentorship to a dynamic team of engineers and planners.

Role accountabilities:
This role includes leading transportation master plans, including major projects and consultation programs with stakeholders, agencies, and the public. It also involves spearheading municipal mobility plans, such as transit scopes, and the development of Complete Streets projects, sustainability initiatives, and bike share and e-scooter programs. A key responsibility is providing expertise in mobility visioning to help shape innovative and forward-thinking transportation solutions. This role also includes performing senior-level technical work, delegating assignments, and overseeing the completion of technical tasks by junior team members, ensuring quality deliverables such as technical reports, studies, and analyses related to multi-modal planning projects.
Additionally, this role includes managing and supervising mid-sized teams and resources, providing effective direction to project teams to ensure successful execution. Strong communication skills are essential, as the role requires engaging with team members at all levels, providing technical guidance, oversight, and mentorship to foster growth and collaboration. Additionally, this role includes performing technical reviews of work products to ensure accuracy and compliance with standards, managing project budgets to ensure delivery on time and within budget, and building and maintaining strong business relationships with public and private sector clients, including managing relationships at senior management levels.
Business development is another key aspect of this role, which includes identifying opportunities, preparing proposals, and presenting to prospective clients to support organizational growth. The role also involves recruiting, motivating, and mentoring team members to foster professional development and meet project objectives. Staying current with Ontario and Eastern Canada market conditions, including transportation policies, standards, and trends, is essential to ensuring projects remain relevant and aligned with industry needs. Through effective leadership and technical expertise, this role supports the delivery of impactful transportation solutions and sustainable mobility programs while advancing Arcadis’ presence in the region.
