Qualifications

  • 2+ years experience with individuals with significant mental health concerns.
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license and clear driving abstract.
  • Current First Aid/CPR and crisis intervention certifications.

Responsibilities

  • Support individuals with household chores, life skills, and personal hygiene.
  • Provide immediate support in crisis situations using de-escalation techniques.
  • Administer medication and document observations regarding the client.

Job description

Support individuals with household chores, life skills, personal hygiene (if needed).

Provide supports as per the individual's care plan.

Provide immediate support in crisis situations and use de-escalation techniques to deal with behaviours.

Administer medication, perform first aid if/when necessary.

Use computer programs to write objective daily reports and document notes & observations regarding the client.

Prior to employment confirmation, all applicants must provide a current Criminal Record Check and/or Government Screening Letter, depending on province and sector, as communicated by the Program Hiring Team.

As an Ideal Candidate, You Possess
  • Ability to work in environments with potential aggression or violence.
  • At least 2 years of experience working with individuals with significant mental health concerns, aggressive behaviours, and/or trauma.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Preferably a Certificate, Diploma, or Degree in Disability Service Work, Social Work, Special Education, or related fields.
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license (or GDL with 2 years driving experience), a clear driving abstract, and a reliable vehicle.
  • Current First Aid/CPR and Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI or CPI) certifications.
  • Training in Trauma-Informed Practice, Medication Administration, Suicide Intervention, Managing Aggressive Behaviour (UMAB), Conflict Resolution, Food Safe.
  • Confidence and ability to function effectively in a crisis.
