We are seeking a Disability Management Consultant to join our growing Disability Consulting team.
The Disability Management Consultant will partner closely with the Account Executive, Benefit Consultants, and clients to provide subject matter expertise surrounding general plan design and best-in-class practices surrounding disability benefit and absence management programs. They will also contribute to bespoke client initiatives including audits, program reviews, and data analytics reviews which will be tailored to each client's needs, all while working alongside leading disability experts to create, implement, and maintain leading-edge solutions.
The Disability Management Consultant Will
- Analyze reports and contribute benchmarking and industry data to provide recommendations and best-in-class options designed to enhance the client offering.
- Handle incoming inquiries from clients, sales consultants/brokers, and other staff in a timely manner. Conduct follow-ups when necessary.
- Partner with clients to obtain clear guidelines surrounding project scope and anticipated deliverables and partner with clients to ensure value-added services surrounding disability management are employed by all third-party providers.
- Attend meetings with multiple stakeholders, projecting a professional and knowledgeable outlook on all matters disability management-related.
- Initiate and/or implement corrective action as needed to ensure that an excellent standard of service and a high level of customer satisfaction are maintained.
- Address escalated issues when required to the satisfaction of the client, for example, obtaining additional information from the client when asked by the carrier
- Conduct and complete full file reviews and support in case discussions
- Complete organizational cost analysis on disability summary reports and provide a high-level overview with opportunity analysis in areas such as active claim listing reviews, lapse time analysis, duration analysis, disease state analysis, and LTD reserve review
- Create and develop process documents and workflows based on client needs and process analysis
- Complete payment calculations and benefits amounts
- Ensure CPP applications
- Ensure wavier of life applications are filed and considered
- Review contract provisions and provide recommendations based on best-in-class options
- Complete and review service-level agreements
- Create and propose billing models aligned with the proposed initiative and respectful of all contractual limitations
- Maintain oversight of client contracts e.g. expiry dates and liaise with the necessary DM consultant to ensure that follow-up and/or enhancement of the offering is maintained
To be successful as the Disability Management Consultant you will need:
- To be proactive professional, always willing to be on top of emerging best practices for your areas of responsibility
- Willing and able to be an advocate for employer/employee vs. carriers / third-party providers
- The ability to work within set procedures and policies to ensure the privacy protocols and standard operating procedures are adhered to at all times
- Excellent Customer Service and communication skills, both verbal and written
- A positive attitude and a very high level of accountability coupled with excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
- Demonstrated ability to question the information provided to address underlying concerns through an analytical lens
- Ability to meet deadlines and provide deliverables in a timely manner; able to prioritize between multiple and competing demands while working well under pressure
- To have sensitivity to confidential information
- Ability to meet and exceed all key performance metrics
- To embrace and be adaptable to change
- Strong proficiency in MS Office Suite
All-Star Candidates Will Have
- 5 - 10 years of industry knowledge and experience in Disability Management or a combination of experience and education
- Registered professional status within the disability management or professional health sector along with additional course work in occupational health, rehabilitation, legislation related to disability management, human resource management, or disability insurance
- Labour relations experience and/or education would be an asset
- CDMP or NIDMAR would be considered an asset.
- Experience partnering with Third Party Providers to affect positive change
