Job description

We are seeking a Bilingual (French / English) Disability Claims Administrator to join our Coughlin team in Ottawa, Toronto, Winnipeg, Calgary, Edmonton, Vancouver, Laval, or Montreal.

The Disability Claims Administrator provides administrative support to the Disability Claims department. They are responsible for creating disability claims, following up on necessary documentation, and assigning cases to a Disability Case Manager for review and analysis. The administrator also assists with Long Term Disability referrals and submissions, responds to client and member inquiries, and prepares periodic reports.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Setting up attendance management, early intervention, and sick leave disability claims in database systems according to procedures, and filing all related correspondence and medical information.
  • Generating reports and charts related to attendance management, early intervention, and sick leave disability claims.
  • Reviewing disability claim forms for accuracy, completeness, and proper signatures/dates, and ensuring reports are sent to the correct recipients.
  • Liaising between plan administrators, claimants, policyholders, consultants, and insurers.
  • Maintaining electronic data and documents, including scanning, faxing, filing, and data entry.
  • Verifying data accuracy and completeness.
  • Assisting with Disability Management Committee meetings, including scheduling, sending invitations, preparing agendas, and producing minutes.
  • Preparing weekly, monthly, and quarterly disability reports.

Qualifications for Success:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and standard office procedures.
  • Excellent bilingual (French and English) communication, grammar, and spelling skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to maintain positive relations within and outside the organization.
  • Exceptional organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize and multitask effectively.

Preferred Candidates will also have:

  • Post-secondary courses in medical terminology (asset).
  • At least two years of relevant office experience.
