Looking for case managers across southwestern and the greater Toronto area.
SABS experience required.
SUMMARY :
- The Disability Case Managers will assist employees on behalf of the employer when the employee is off work or at risk of being off work for health reasons.
- Assess barriers to a successful and timely return-to-work plan.
- Oversee a client’s medical status and collaborate with an allied healthcare team.
- Liaise with various medical disciplines, insurance adjusters, lawyers, and employers.
- Engage stakeholders to implement strategies addressing barriers and support return to work or alternative plans.
RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Conduct initial case assessments by contacting employees and their managers to explain the process and gather information.
- Provide medical expertise on disability claims to support claims management with specialists.
- Determine eligibility for disability benefits, assess impact of medical conditions, and project duration and interventions.
- Work with treatment providers to obtain necessary medical information and manage transitions to LTD.
- Review disability claims medically, contact providers, and obtain records and responses.
- Provide medical opinions to claims specialists, document findings professionally.
- Define restrictions and limitations to aid liability decisions and involve other resources as needed.
- Understand disability contracts and key financial/business indicators relevant to claims.
REQUIREMENTS :
- Minimum 3 years of Disability Case Management experience in Auto, MVA, WSIB, and SABS.
- Additional coursework in occupational health, rehabilitation, legislation, mediation, HR management, disability insurance, psychological and workplace factors is an asset.
- Experience in adjudication, industrial disability management, cardiac, and orthopedics is an asset.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
