In the Markets and Enterprise Technology group, we are seeking a Director to lead the Site Reliability Engineering function in the Corporate Functions area, encompassing technology teams in AML, Risk, Finance, Corporate Treasury, and Human Resources.

We are searching for someone who has fresh ideas and viewpoints, excels at cross team collaboration, and is a software engineer at heart.

This is a senior role to ensure the reliability, scalability, and performance of critical applications and infrastructure by driving automation, monitoring, incident response, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Accountabilities

Leadership

  • This role requires a high-degree of cross-team collaboration and ability to influence teams towards outcomes vs. direct management of headcount
  • Drive critical incident calls, ensuring timely incident response and effective problem resolution
  • Participate in change control review boards, assess and inform impacted teams

System Reliability and Monitoring

  • Collaborate with the infrastructure and cloud engineering organizations to build robust monitoring systems to detect potential issues early and develop proactive methods to recover
  • Ensure alerting systems are setup to notify relevant teams of critical incidents
  • Analyze metrics and identify bottlenecks to optimize system health and scalability

Incident Response and Root Cause Analysis

  • Lead incident response efforts during critical system outages, facilitating rapid troubleshooting and issue resolution
  • Conduct post-mortem analysis to identify root cause of incidents and implement preventative measures.

Automation

  • Collaborate with Application, Infrastructure and Cloud Engineering teams to drive automation of repetitive tasks, including infrastructure provisioning, deployment, and scaling

Capacity Planning

  • Collaborate with application teams to ensure system architecture is scalable and resilient to meet future demand

Collaboration and Communication, Communicate effectively

Education And Experience

  • Strong knowledge of Site Reliability Engineering practices, expertise in DevOps, expertise in production support and incident management as demonstrated by previous experiences
  • Experience developing and supporting large-scale on-premises systems and cloud-based workloads
  • Experience implementing Infrastructure as Code to ensure consistency and repeatability
  • Experience managing cloud infrastructure (any of GCP, Azure, AWS) to optimize resource utilization and cost efficiency
  • Experience with alerting and monitoring tools
  • Highly skilled at influencing and an effective collaborator.
  • Prefer candidates with previous hands-on software development experiences.
