Overview

The Toronto Central (North) Regional Cancer Program (TCN RCP) is responsible for implementing provincial standards and programs for cancer care, ensuring service providers meet the requirements and targets set out in partnership agreements with Ontario Health - Cancer Care Ontario. Based at the Odette Cancer Centre at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre, the TCN RCP collaborates with partner hospitals including Michael Garron Hospital, Scarborough Health Network, and North York General Hospital. The program also oversees cancer screening services for breast, cervical, colorectal, and lung cancers across the Toronto Central region.

Position Summary

The TCN RCP seeks an experienced leader for a 15-month temporary position of Regional Director. Reporting to the Regional Vice President and Chief of Odette Cancer Centre, as well as the Operations Director of Odette Cancer Centre, the Regional Director will be a key member of the leadership team. Responsibilities include overseeing RCP administration, planning, program development, quality improvement, and ensuring compliance with accountability agreements and performance targets set by Ontario Health.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage RCP administration, planning, and program development
  • Lead quality improvement initiatives
  • Ensure all regional hospitals meet accountability and performance standards
  • Support the executive team and represent the RCP on regional and provincial committees
  • Lead the cancer screening portfolio in Toronto Central, engaging with stakeholders and community partners
Qualifications
  • Master's degree (e.g., Masters of Hospital Administration or equivalent)
  • At least 5 years of progressive management experience
  • Preferred: 2+ years experience in cancer programs
  • Experience with Ontario Health and provincial organizations is an asset
  • Knowledge of health information systems and healthcare policies
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and strategic thinking skills
  • Ability to collaborate with diverse groups and model respect and civility
  • Experience in patient engagement and project management
  • Knowledge of quality improvement principles
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision support skills
  • Ability to manage multiple issues and lead in ambiguity
  • Understanding of healthcare ethics, legislation, and professional standards
  • Proven external relationship-building skills
