Position: Director, Ticket Sales & Service

Reports to: VP, Ticket & Premium, Sales & Service

Position Summary

The Director, Ticket Sales & Service for Canucks Sports & Entertainment (CSE) in beautiful Vancouver, British Columbia will be a big dreamer with a growth-oriented team focused mindset on revenue maximization and development of CSE's ticket sales team and the next leaders within sports & entertainment. This role is responsible for overseeing the development and implementation of departmental strategic plans and supporting tactical and operational plans for the ticket sales and service of all in-bowl seating for the Vancouver Canucks NHL Hockey Club.

This Role Will Focus On

(Other duties may be assigned as required)

  • Works with the VP, Ticket Sales & Service, and in collaboration with the Sr. Manager, Premium Sales & Experience, to evolve Canucks Sports & Entertainment’s strategic plan to maximize revenue from ticket sales. This plan will include designing new revenue streams and product innovation, pricing and product optimization, new experience development, and development of sales, experience and retention strategies and tactics.
  • Create a team-focused, high-energy sales culture emphasizing training, development, and consistent feedback
  • Provides leadership to multiple direct reports who lead the ticket sales and service teams, Ticket Centre and ticket operations
  • Works with leadership within Ticket Sales, Premium Sales, Member Experience, Premium Member Experience, & Vancouver Warriors to ensure that members of each team is equipped with information on all products and processes to ease access of full menu sales & service
  • Works with Manager, Ticket Sales & Team Lead, Membership Experience to develop and implement service excellence initiatives
  • Identifies potential new team members and leads effort to coach and develop all staff and create our next generation of leaders. Directs recurring internal sales training
  • Continues to build on existing relationships with major clients
  • Develops new relationships with high level prospects
  • Monitors all seating availability on a game-by-game basis
  • Coordinates segmented marketing efforts and single-game sales efforts with Marketing team
  • Works closely with Canucks Sports & Entertainment executive team and ownership on initiatives that significantly affect the budget of strategic objectives of the organization
  • Reports sales results and forecasts to Canucks Sports & Entertainment leadership daily
  • Actively monitors all elements of the sports, entertainment, leisure and service industries for inspiration from best practices that can be utilized in our business
  • Serves as a committed and responsible member of the company’s Leadership team

Experience & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or a directly related study
  • Minimum of five years’ leadership experience at a senior level in a high energy ticket sales and service environment, preferably in a professional sports league (i.e. NHL, NBA, NFL, NLL etc.)
  • Demonstrated directly related experience developing highly effective ticket sales strategies without losing focus on premium service
  • Assertive, action-oriented individual possessing a high degree of initiative and known to have the knack for getting things done
  • Committed to a vision of service that will thrill fans and provide an ultimate fan experience
  • Exceptional customer service acumen and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Proven ability to build, motivate and lead teams
  • Superior communication, conflict resolution skills, with the ability to relate professionally to all levels of staff, management, clientele, suppliers, and partners.
  • Excellent planning, organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to handle conflicting deadlines and prioritize
