About the Role

We’re looking for a seasoned finance leader with strong technical expertise and collaborative skills to join our team as Director, Technical Accounting and Compliance. In this role, you will ensure compliance with complex accounting standards, oversee global statutory reporting, and support environmental and sustainability data collection. You’ll serve as a trusted subject matter expert on IFRS/US GAAP, lead technical accounting guidance for complex transactions, manage audits, and support regulatory filings. This role collaborates closely with cross-functional teams including finance, legal, tax, operations, and external auditors, while leading a high-performing accounting team to drive compliance, innovation, and process excellence.

What You’ll Do
  • Act as the organization’s subject matter expert on complex accounting matters including business combinations, revenue recognition, leasing, derivatives, and restructuring.
  • Monitor, research, interpret, and implement new accounting standards (IFRS/US GAAP) and ensure timely adoption.
  • Oversee the preparation, review, and filing of statutory financial statements for global legal entities, ensuring compliance with local GAAP and IFRS-to-local GAAP conversion.
  • Manage the global statutory audit process, coordinating with local advisors and external auditors.
  • Lead the collection, validation, and reporting of GHG emissions and climate-related metrics for statutory, regulatory, and voluntary disclosures.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders (Tax, Operations, Commercial) and external auditors on accounting initiatives, M&A, and leasing.
  • Lead and develop a high-performing, inclusive team while driving automation, process improvements, and standardization across technical accounting functions.
  • Ensure compliance with corporate governance, internal controls, and SOX requirements, while promoting employee engagement and accountability.
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • 10+ years of progressive accounting experience.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Chartered Accountant (CA).
  • Expertise in IFRS and/or US GAAP and experience with public company accounting and external filings.
  • Experience with multinational operations and managing audits across multiple legal entities.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • Experience in public accounting (Big 4 preferred).
  • Exposure to M&A, IPO, and complex transactions.
  • Demonstrated involvement with ESG or environmental data reporting and familiarity with emerging regulatory frameworks.
  • Strong leadership, project management, and process improvement capabilities.

Current Location: Mississauga. Our Mississauga office will move to 1 Adelaide in Toronto in September 2026.

The hiring base salary range for this position is $133,400 - $183,400 annually. Actual compensation within this range will be dependent upon the individual’s knowledge, skills, experience, equity with other team members, and alignment with market data. Please note that the disclosed salary range is solely for candidates hired to perform work within this geographic location. Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location.
