Job summary

FYihealth group is seeking a Director of Tax to lead the enterprise-wide tax strategy across Canada and the United States. You will oversee direct and indirect tax, planning, compliance, and reporting for a rapidly growing organization and tailor tax governance for cross-border operations.

This Calgary-based role offers broad leadership scope, cross-functional collaboration, and a pathway to shape tax policy within a dynamic healthcare group.

Qualifications

  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
  • CPA Designation.
  • 10+ years progressive corporate tax experience with 5+ years in a leadership role.
  • Experience in complex multi-entity/country structures.
  • Deep expertise in Canadian corporate income tax.
  • Experience with cross-border tax planning and compliance.
  • Transfer pricing fundamentals and documentation oversight.
  • Experience with tax audits and negotiations with tax authorities.
  • Experience supporting mergers and acquisitions.
  • Working knowledge of US Federal and state tax.
  • Leadership experience with a proven track record of building and mentoring high-performing teams.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex information to executive level or non-financial stakeholders
  • Ability to multi-task and thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • A collaborative, adaptable, and proactive team player with a growth mindset, able to manage changing priorities effectively
  • Proven ability to inspire, coach, and mentor a team while driving organizational goals
  • Ability to build effective relationships with Senior Leadership and other support units
  • Bilingualism English/French is considered an asset

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute the Company's overall tax strategy aligned with business objectives and growth plans
  • Evaluate tax implications of acquisitions, financing arrangements, reorganizations, and legal entity structuring
  • Identify and lead process improvement opportunities in all areas of responsibility
  • Lead tax planning initiatives to optimize the Company's effective tax rate and cash taxes
  • Monitor legislative changes across Canadian federal, provincial, and U.S. jurisdictions and assess business impacts
  • Advise on the tax implications of associate agreements, independent contractor arrangements, employment models, and professional service agreements
  • Build and lead a high-performing tax function capable of supporting continued growth.
  • Lead, coach and mentor a team of tax professionals.
  • Fostering a culture of collaboration, continuous development, and excellence while providing strategic tax leadership and guidance to cross-functional stakeholders (legal, corporate development, finance, operations) on various matters
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the team and organizational goals.

Join our team as a Director, Tax! In this role, you’ll lead the company’s enterprise-wide tax strategy, planning, compliance, reporting across Canada and the United States. Oversee all direct and indirect tax matters for a rapidly growing organization. Ensuring corporate and sales tax compliance across all entities, research, liaise and communicate tax implications of business initiatives, acquisition deal structures and doctor compensation arrangements with various internal and external stakeholders. Develop effective tax planning strategies to minimize tax burden on consolidated group basis, evaluate tax implications of acquisitions, dispositions, reorganizations, and legal entity structuring. Build and lead a high-performing tax function capable of supporting continued growth.

This position is based at our Home Office in Calgary.

What You’ll Do
