Director, Studies (Minerals & Metals) – Vancouver

About The Role

  • Manage a portfolio of studies ranging from business case assessments to Feasibility Studies.
  • Responsible for the overall performance of Study Managers and study teams, ensuring staff utilization, profitability, and financial management.
  • Recruit, develop, and mentor Study Managers and Project Engineers to ensure project success.
  • Lead reviews and audits of study timelines, budgets, and resources, resolving issues proactively.
  • Build and maintain relationships with management, clients, team members, and stakeholders to foster collaboration.
  • Engage with global experts to leverage innovation and add value to studies.
  • Identify and communicate study and project risks, ensuring mitigation strategies are in place.
  • Review proposals to ensure strategic alignment and successful execution.
  • Support regional business development in the M&M sector through networking, referrals, and market research.

About You

  • University Degree in Mining, Metallurgy, Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, or Chemical Engineering with at least 15 years of mining industry experience and regional market knowledge.
  • Proven track record managing and delivering Studies, NI 43-101, and SK-1300 reports.
  • Experience managing large, complex, multidisciplinary projects including EPC/EPCM scopes.
  • Significant leadership experience. Extensive experience in mining or mineral processing studies and projects.
  • Registration as a Professional Engineer with Qualified Person capabilities related to NI 43-101.
  • Experience as a study manager, area manager, engineering manager, or lead engineer on multiple projects/studies.
  • Established contacts within the base metals and minerals market are a plus.
  • Ability to advance studies and initiatives through complexity and uncertainty.
  • Comfort with ambiguity and complexity, with ability to focus on details and overall strategy.
  • Excellent technical and oral communication skills.
  • Leadership experience leading high-performing teams.
  • Willingness and ability to travel regionally and internationally as needed.
