Director, Specialty Retail Programs
We are hiring a Director, Specialty Retail Programs.
The Director, Specialty Retail Programs, reporting to the Senior Director, Specialty Retail & Pharmacy Operations, is accountable for leading strategic initiatives that shape the retail specialty pharmacy experience across Loblaw and Shoppers Drug Mart locations. This role leads a team that collaborates with cross-functional partners to implement scalable programs, enhance pharmacy capabilities, and deliver exceptional care for specialty patients in the retail environment.
Specialty Health Network (SHN) supports our retail stores in delivering best-in-class care to patients prescribed specialty medications. SHN operates specialty patient support and drug programs, facilitating reimbursement, improving adherence, and enabling better health outcomes for patients, prescribers, and pharmaceutical manufacturers.
What You’ll Do
Lead a high-performing team responsible for the design, launch, and optimization of specialty programs across the retail pharmacy network
Define and execute operational strategies, workflows, and SOPs that support compliant implementation and pharmacy readiness
Partner with SDM and enterprise teams to embed specialty offerings into the retail pharmacy experience
Act as a clinical and operational subject matter expert for enterprise strategic initiatives
Oversee pharmacy training and readiness plans for specialty programs
Drive continuous improvement initiatives and best practice documentation
Ensure all program operations meet regulatory and professional standards
Monitor pharmacist scope of practice changes and apply them to retail patient support offerings
Support business development activities as needed, providing operational insights
Develop stakeholder communications including memos, presentations, and strategic updates
What You’ll Need
Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in pharmacy, pharma, or healthcare
Strong background in retail pharmacy operations, ideally with SDM, Loblaw, or equivalent
Leadership experience, including direct team or cross-functional leadership
Proven ability to influence and lead change without formal authority
Excellent communication skills with strength in content development and presentations
Deep knowledge of pharmacy systems, workflows, and standards of practice
Experience with Patient Support Programs and CRM platforms is preferred
Proficient in MS Office and adaptable to shifting business priorities
