Who you are:

We are seeking an experienced and data-driven Director of Solutions Engineering to lead our SE team, which is instrumental in helping Clio’s customers understand the full value of our solutions. This leader will manage a team of technical, customer-centric SEs who specialize in supporting the SMB and Mid-Market segments. As the Director of Solutions Engineering, you will drive strategic initiatives to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of the SE team, ensuring alignment with Clio’s sales strategy and organizational goals. We're looking for a leader to play a critical role in accelerating deal cycles and improving conversion rates by providing deep product expertise and technical guidance to our prospects and customers.

You bring extensive experience working in high-growth SaaS environments, a proven ability to collaborate with Product teams to influence the roadmap, and a data-driven mindset to track and optimize SE performance. This is a high-impact role requiring a leader who can build scalable processes, drive technical excellence, and foster a high-performance culture within the SE organization.

What you'll work on:
  • Lead and mentor a team of specialized SEs, ensuring they are equipped to support the sales team in driving deal velocity and improving conversion rates.

  • Foster a culture of technical excellence, customer obsession, and continuous learning.

  • Develop career growth plans for SEs, ensuring strong retention and talent development.

  • Oversee SE engagement across SMB and Mid-Market segments, ensuring tailored technical solutions that address customer pain points.

  • Collaborate with Sales Leadership to refine the SE team’s role in the sales cycle, optimizing technical demos, proof-of-concept engagements, and value-based selling.

  • Ensure the SE team is equipped with the latest competitive intelligence, product updates, and objection-handling techniques.

  • Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure SE impact on deal velocity, win rates, and overall sales effectiveness.

  • Implement scalable best practices for SE engagement, leveraging data insights to continuously optimize processes.

  • Leverage CRM and sales tools to monitor SE performance, ensuring the team’s activities align with business objectives.

  • Partner closely with Product teams to provide customer feedback and influence the product roadmap based on market needs.

  • Work with Sales, Marketing, and Revenue Operations to ensure a unified go-to-market strategy that aligns with Clio’s growth objectives.

  • Build strong relationships across the organization to enhance communication, alignment, and collaboration on shared goals.

  • Identify and implement AI-driven strategies to improve SE efficiency, including automation of technical demos, AI-assisted objection handling, and data-driven insights for customer engagement.

  • Stay at the forefront of emerging sales and technical trends, continuously evaluating new tools and technologies to enhance the SE function.

  • Regularly communicate with senior executives, presenting performance metrics, strategic initiatives, and the impact of SE engagements.

  • Provide clear and concise updates on key metrics, areas of improvement, and initiatives that contribute to overall business growth.

What you may bring:
  • 10+ years of experience in Solutions Engineering, Sales Engineering, or Technical Pre-Sales roles, with at least 5 years leading SE teams in a SaaS environment.

  • Proven success in scaling SE organizations in high-growth SaaS companies, preferably supporting SMB and Mid-Market sales teams.

  • Deep technical knowledge of SaaS products, with a strong ability to translate complex technical concepts into customer-friendly value propositions.

  • Experience working cross-functionally with Product and Sales teams to align technical solutions with customer needs and influence product strategy.

  • A data-driven decision-making approach, with strong experience in tracking SE performance and optimizing team effectiveness.

  • Exceptional communication and leadership skills, with the ability to inspire and mentor a high-performing team.

  • A progressive mindset, eager to innovate and drive the SE organization toward the future.
