Job description

Job Description - Director, Social Performance (14709)

The Director, Social Performance will lead IAMGOLD’s community relations, Indigenous relations, human rights, and Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) reporting strategies. Reporting to the Vice President of Health, Safety, Environment, and Community Relations (VP HSEC), this role requires collaboration with operations, senior leadership, and cross-functional teams to address community and stakeholder engagement throughout the project lifecycle, from exploration and permitting to operations and closure.

In this role, you will oversee the implementation of company-wide strategies related to community relations, First Nations relations, regulatory consultation, social performance, community investment, and communications, ensuring alignment with TSM protocols. You will also support the development and execution of IAMGOLD’s Reconciliation strategy and action plan and ensure consistency across sites for community relations standards and IBA obligations, conducting site visits when necessary.

You will engage with internal and external stakeholders to build trust-based relationships, promote mutual respect, and stay informed on relevant legislation and socio-political dynamics. Additionally, you will provide guidance and coaching to foster growth, lead continuous improvement efforts for community relations standards and systems, and review community relations risks, leading investigations into incidents and ensuring corrective actions are taken.

You will also co-lead IAMGOLD’s human rights strategy, ensuring alignment with global best practices, and support reporting on forced and child labour (Bill S-211).

What You Need to Succeed

The ideal candidate will have post-secondary education in social sciences, human geography, anthropology, or a related field, with significant experience in community relations, particularly in the mining sector, and leadership experience. Strong knowledge of management systems, public speaking, communication, and collaboration skills are essential. Fluency in English is required, with French being an asset.

If you’re passionate about building relationships, driving strategic initiatives, and making a meaningful impact, we invite you to apply.

Why Join IAMGOLD? IAMGOLD offers a competitive total rewards package, including salary, bonuses, extended health and dental coverage, fitness subsidies, and mental health support. Their hybrid work model, summer hours, and year-end closure promote work-life balance, while pension plans and savings programs secure your financial future.
